Tidewater 196DC Paves the Way for Family Fun

Tidewater 196DC Paves the Way for Family Fun

By Ted Lund

It’s tough to find a nearly-perfect compromise boat for the family, but regardless of whether new or experienced boaters are looking for a platform for long fishing weekends, cruising the coast or pulling water toys, Tidewater’s 196DC is about as good as it gets.

The 196DC is based on Tidewater’s fuel-efficient, wide-beam hull design. By the numbers, the 196DC is 19-feet, 6-inches at the centerline and sports an 8-foot, 2-inch beam.

196 Tidewater

Weighing in just shy of 2,000 pounds without the motor, the 196DC is easily trailer-able with most family vehicles. Its 56-gallon fuel tank feeds a reliable Yamaha four-stroke engines ranging from 115- to 150-hp, and the boat’s 50-degree bow deadrise helps it cut through most any chop you’ll encounter in rivers, lakes, and coastal tributaries. The 17-degree transom deadrise provides a solid, stable platform and 23-inch gunwale height makes for a dry, comfortable — and safe — platform.

In addition to its signature walkthrough-dual console design, the 196DC includes standard options such as a live-well, a large insulated fish box, rod holders, gunwale rod rack storage and an open cockpit. All it needs to become the ultimate all-purpose boat is the optional ski bar — providing hours of family fun.

As with all Tidewater boats, the available options are endless. Owners can choose from a variety of console layouts and options, as well as

custom covers and Bimini-style canvas offerings to help keep things cool when boating weather heats up.

One thing that isn’t optional?

Tidewater’s commitment to, and pride in, quality construction and manufacturing.

The Tidewater 196DC is available in seven colors: white, carbon (gray), sky blue, bimini blue, fusion blue, island green and black. Like the rest of the Tidewater family, the 196DC features a self-bailing deck and cockpit, automatic bilge pump, LED nav lights, aluminum backing plates for deck hardware, horn, hydraulic steering, front and rear jump seats, a rear center seat, as well as stainless steel hardware including thru-hull, rub rail, steering wheel and knob, hardware, flush-mount cleats and more.

Every Tidewater features the same all-composite, no-wood construction with fiberglass stringers and a hand-laid fiberglass hull. Each boat is rigged to AYBC standards and is backed by a 10-year transferable hull warranty.

Tips for Building a Farm Pond

Tips for Building a Farm Pond By Burt Carey Growing up in rural Northern California, my two brothers and I were blessed to have a down-the-road neighbor who allowed us to fish in his farm pond just about anytime we wanted.
