All about kinetic log splitters

drpower RAPIDFIRE6smTraditional log splitters operate using hydraulic power. DR Power offers a full line of hydraulic powered log splitters to handle any wood splitting job.

DR Power also offers a revolutionary kinetic-powered log splitter, the DR RapidFire. It’s available in manual and electric start and can out-split conventional 28- and 34-ton models.

The engine of a hydraulic splitter pushes oil into a cylinder that builds up pressure to drive a ram through the log. The DR RapidFire kinetic log splitter works differently. Here’s how:

The engine drives a rack and pinion gear pulse power system. It makes massive twin cast iron flywheels spin at 400 rpm while storing a tremendous 28 horsepower of cutting force. It’s stored in the form of kinetic energy from the heavy weight of the spinning flywheels. Those turn a heavy-duty pinion gear. It drives the cutting rack into the log when the operator engages the cam lever.

All the stored energy is released in seconds. That’s why the DR RapidFire is the world’s fastest log splitter. By comparison it takes up to 15 seconds of cycle time for a hydraulic log splitter.

In one hour a kinetic log splitter can split the same amount of wood that a hydraulic splitter takes 2 ½ hours to split. The proof is in this video. Kinetic log splitters require less maintenance because they don’t use hydraulic fluid. They also burn less fuel to provide a cost savings.

By employing this revolutionary technology you can save both time and money with a kinetic log splitter.

The Rites of Spring…Cleaning

The Rites of Spring…Cleaning ~ Samantha Lewis For those in the East, the term ‘Spring’ is not at all on their lips when they keep turning on the television weather and seeing the next, brand new snowstorm headed their way.
