Social Media Needs YOU to be the Topic of Conversation!

Some people call it a talent; others call it an art form; but, the ability to make conversation is actually a skill. However, when it comes to the world of social media we are given a bit of a break. It is far harder to make conversation in person, face-to-face, than it is on a computer screen. But conversation, unlike at a public function where you can simply excuse yourself and leave by the back door, is also an absolute ‘must’ when it comes to the online world. With social media, when it comes to building a business, conversation HAS to be had!

For any business – whether start-up or established – in order to build and keep an audience you must have the ability to write blogs, answer consumer questions, perhaps host online events where customers attend in order to learn more about your specific company and its goals, etc. – a social media team is required for success. This is the team that can offer you an ‘ease’ when it comes to marketing and having the ability to converse in any and all situations; with that team behind you, in fact, you can do no wrong. A social media team are knowledgeable and experienced people who have the ability to make sure that your clients – the audience that they help you build – will always be greatly satisfied with your ‘conversational’ skills.

Now, when it comes to the personal side of life, conversations are usually best when someone comments on a topic that they both have in common. This works the exact same in the world of social media. You see, if one person – one audience member – loves your product, they will rave to yet another person who has that topic (product/industry) in common. Once this ‘chain’  of conversation begins, the ‘buzz’ about your company expands like you would not believe.

Essentially, that’s  the benefit of it all! Conversation is much-needed ‘buzz.’ (Why do you think Bieber is now a superstar). One topic of conversation that two people have in common will branch out in less than minutes with the billions who are surfing the net looking for your particular product and/or service.

Comments that are of an interest to more than one person, and comments that are of a positive nature, are the bottom line when it comes to increasing your profits and building your company. From your profile pages to your blogs to your weekly discussions – everything can remain on a positive level if treated correctly by a social media team that fits with you company’s needs and goals.

Now, conversational skills are also needed when it comes to the negative side of things. Think about that for a moment! When one person has a topic in common with another, word can spread. Just as quickly, however, if one person has a negative thing to say about your company and/or product, that can spread just as fast. Actually, sometimes negativity can spread like wildfire. To combat negative conversation, a social media team makes sure to monitor your sites and channels on a 24/7 basis. That way, if a negative comment or conversation appears, or even if someone is in need of serious customer service, then the problem can be ‘nipped’ in the bud, as they say, and the negative conversation can be stopped.

You must understand – as a businessperson – that the human form is actually not as much motivated to buy or speak about a product without being emotionally engaged first. What that means is at the same time as their mind is hearing all about how wonderful your company is and how outstanding your products are, they need to have some type of emotional motivation which comes from a ‘personal’ touch. Personal touches involve everything from interaction, conversation to visual stimuli such as fantastic graphics, banner advertising and more. The visual world makes humans emotionally charged and calls upon their motivation to get up and buy! Or, simply stay seated and click – depending on what they wish to do.

In addition, when it comes to the power of conversation and communication, your audience wants to hear not only about your business and your product, but anything along the lines of education, technology, updates, the latest news and, yes – even humor – which is actually what (sources say) 95% of readers are looking for and will stay for.

Anything visual, as well, will build our name. From graphics, logos, to community events with photographs – anything that can encourage your company’s mission and engrave your company name into the audience’s collective brain – is what that social media team is there for! They have the expertise to help market you to the best of their ability so that you become the ‘it’ company!

Also, conversation is SO necessary when it comes to responding as fast as you can. Even you, as the businessperson who is looking at making a company a success, are still also a ‘consumer’ who has learned to despise companies that offer 800#’s that simply never go through. Or, when they do finally connect with a live human being, seem to connect in a foreign country, because the person on the other end has no idea what you’re referring to. You, as the consumer, already know that to make you business stand out and be seen as one of the best, your personal communication with the consumer is an absolute priority!

Videos also add value. Now, these videos need to be up-to-date, impressive, visually stimulating, and truly offer the ins and outs of your product. Videos, as well as photos, offer an incentive and also an impression that can once again be engraved into the collective consciousness where they will always know your company name by being able to call up that image at will.

The world is full of conversation, but the internet is filled with even more. The social media game that all companies must play in order to create ‘buzz’ and score profits is extensive. There are a number of techniques, programs and skills involved that a social media team must be able to help with. But, in the end, a good conversation starts the ball rolling; and one great comment can build an audience larger than you would have ever believed possible!
