St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors donate 600 lbs. of pet food to St. Augustine Humane Society.

The St. Augustine Humane Society has received approximately 600 lbs. of pet food for dogs and cats from members of the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. The Chamber Ambassador’s quarterly giving campaign included the donation to help the Humane Society and its Pet Food Bank. The Pet Food Bank provides food and supplies to pet owners in financial need and allows families to receive assistance for up to six months.

The Chamber’s Ambassadors presented the food donation to the Humane Society on September 14 at 1665 Moultrie Road in St. Augustine.

According to Stephanie Helburn, Ambassador spokesperson and coordinator of the pet food donation, the Chamber Ambassadors include members who are passionate about responsible pet ownership and the care and feeding of dogs and cats. “We are dedicated to assisting non-profits in St. Johns County through a variety of fundraisers. We understand that animals are in need of love and food in our community,” she said. Helburn added, the organization plans to continue its support of the Humane Society through pet food donations and volunteer activities.

“We are honored to be selected by the Chamber Ambassadors who have generously donated pet food to our food bank,” said Carolyn Smith, St. Augustine Humane Society’s Operations Director. To date, the Humane Society has collected and distributed more than 7,000 lbs. of pet food this year.

“Our goal is to help people keep their pets in the family, to help low income people feed and care for their pets, and decrease the need to surrender pets to shelters, plus strengthen the animal-human bond in St. Johns County,” said Smith.
