Social Media Managers Talk Advanced Strategies! Part 2
Most everyone (or, hopefully every business) already employs the ‘must-have’ Facebook account. However, they do not understand that this particular network is the largest and best when it comes to marketing a business. Having a simple ‘Business Account’ offers the basic information for all readers. However, by creating a Facebook Business Fan Page, this allows you the wide-open option of expanding your business far greater, far faster as your updates, news and information constantly flow to the Facebook pages of the people who become your business ‘fans.’ Not to mention the advertisement avenues with Facebook are extremely successful and a social media manager will know exactly how to create and run these ads in order to get your name deeper into the marketplace.
A get many people believe Twitter is a ‘good’ place to sell and market, but there is still the stigma that the program is simply used for people to ‘talk’ to celebrities. This is untrue. Twitter comes with some truly advanced tools such as TweetDeck and Tweetie which helps with flexibility options giving companies more control over their marketing strategies. Defined searches that can be collaborated upon before using and set into place in order to define and monitor keywords that are being used on the Web that are in direct relation to your company and brand are a must. Twitterfall is also available, which is a tool that allows you to color-code custom searches so that you and your social media manger can review these searches and be able to not only ‘reinvent’ your postings but also follow the trends and topics that are being discussed in various communities that make up YOUR customer base.
As we all know, a blog is a must for all companies but, again, most businesses feel that ‘more quantity’ also means more quality, which is not the case. A blog is a true time investment and MUST be watched for trends, searches, keywords, etc., to allow your company to be ‘in the right place at the right time.’ Do NOT be boring. This is a horrible thing to say to some, especially businesses who believe that the 1980’s are still the way to create and expand businesses. This is completely untrue. No matter what your customer base (and this is a fact) – whether it be twenty-somethings or fifty-somethings – have NO interest in a boring topic. Not boring jobs, mind you. Do not get this confused. You can be a doctor, horse breeder, catfish salesman – what have you. But you need to have a social media manager and a very creative mind out there on the Web that sees the ‘buzz,’ understands it and makes sure your blog is the unique, vibrant text and information that people want to know. Completely professional, but data told in a way that captures interest. This is the major mistake that companies fall into. If you look out there in the world, the companies that are doing the best in production and building their profits are the ones who go outside of the box. They keep everything on a knowledgeable, professional level but they make sure to add a uniqueness that keeps the customers coming back for more! (Tip: To better understand this concept, take as an example a lingerie company. Yes, the female of the household is still the one in charge of the majority of purchasing decisions. So in this case, ‘romance’ is a keyword for this particular industry. Do you wish to post information, articles, product reviews and data from Donald Trump or from Jane Austen to best reach your perfect audience?)
Another avenue is to explore plug-ins; these are options that can be added to your blog that allow the customer to spread your information farther. TweetMeme can be added to your blog which automatically allows people to re-Tweet your ‘colorful and imaginative’ posts and gets that ‘buzz’ going. Again, the social media manager knows about plug-ins and can put into place the ones that best suit your company’s needs.
In addition, participate on other blogs. The farther your company’s reach the more profits you are going to make! There is a reason why the word ‘community’ is used a great deal when it comes to social media and that’s because businesses want to utilize other businesses. They want to put out reviews on products, open up topics of conversation, share information in order to increase their own network. There is a ‘community’ of sharers and informationists out there so make ‘friends!’
A LinkedIn profile is necessary in this business world but yours needs to be very high when it comes to results of searches that other businesses and potential clients make on the Web. Subject matter – creative writing, if you will – also comes into play where this is concerned. Your subject matter can be honed to certain markets and groups that will then bring you and your company into conversations with other businesses establishing yourself as someone that must be heard!
Many businesses do not realize this next point, either. Uploading photos of you, your company, your products, etc., make you trustworthy to clients. Think about that. The Web can just be the ‘yellow pages’ on screen. Customers can simply call up a topic and receive a list of lawyers or horse breeders across the United States and just pick one at random. But the one they choose will be the one that offers them the most information, pictures to back up their remarks and news, product reviews, and blog posts that capture the customer’s interest. If there is no trust, there is NO expanding your business.
The more years that go by, the more people are buying off the internet because of promotions, coupons, reviews, etc., and they buy these products as well as visit these businesses because the company offers promotions in order to encourage reviews by customers for their website. As any author will tell you – reviews of the product are not only necessary, they build your brand and make others ‘want’ to be a part of what you are doing. If a thousand people give you five stars, others will buy that product to see for themselves what all the fuss is about. You have to spend money to make money – so any event or promotion that you can run for your company will improve profits in the end.
Building searches, keywords, monitoring sites, writing posts, adding pictures and videos – these are basics BUT the advanced strategies are used in these ‘simplistic’ programs by social media managers who KNOW what they’re doing and want nothing more than to increase your company’s profits by utilizing their skill and knowledge to take your marketing strategies that one step further. They spend massive amounts of time learning the huge conglomeration of networks out there and making sure that your marketing strategies focus on your company’s efforts. They monitor, create, and run the ‘traffic’ to your site and they use advanced multimedia strategies that are truly too complicated for most business owners who have no time to spare on the social media world to learn.
URL’s, going viral, name and brand consistency, relegating the correct information to the correct networks – your social media strategy directly reflects on your brand, which means having a professional at the helm is necessary.
