Letter to Belfast City Council for Lennox’s Life

Filed under International, Pets / Animals

Jan Moore-White from Kentucky, US, writes to the Belfast City Council of Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, to request them for releasing the death-row dog Lennox go free to a forever home in America.

The Belfast City Council

United Kingdom

I am writing in regards to Lennox, the dog on death row. I am from the United States and have been on board the Lennox campaign for a year now. I understand your laws about Pit Bull Types, but, I cannot bring myself to understand why a dog that is labeled “TYPE” is guilty automatically. All Judicial systems work by the principle “Innocent till Proven Guilty”. Lennox is not a Pit Bull no matter what his measurements are and he has never been aggressive to anyone. He is a therapy dog that was helping Brooke Barnes until May 19, 2010, when you had him seized. Her health has deteriorated since that time. The Barnes family are a wonderful family and do not deserve the treatment they have received from the Council. All they wish to do is save the life of Lennox, a member of their family. Please, will you reconsider and if need be send him out of Belfast even to the United States. God gave us these beautiful animals to love and provide for since they have no VOICE.

I know you have received threats on this matter and I for one know that everyone I have met through this experience would rather this be decided peacefully. There are some people that have continually tried to sabotage this campaign and I am sorry for the way any council members were treated. Please reconsider and if Lennox cannot return home to the Barnes family, let him go with either Victoria Stilwell or Caesar Milan.

I don’t beg very often but I am begging you to please remove the “TO BE DESTROYED” label and let Lennox go.

Thank You,
Jan Moore-White

If there is any mercy or compassion in your hearts, I ask the Belfast City Council to prove it today by letting Lennox live out the rest of his natural life in the home of a family that will love him and help him to get over his awful two YEARS of solitary confinement, already a fate worse than death for a family dog. Please, DO THE RIGHT THING for the first time in two years and let Lennox LIVE!!

I wonder why Belfast City Council simply keeps silent about this issue and even keeps deleting all the comments that mention Lennox? What kind of treatment is it towards their fellow humans (let alone dogs). It is rude and offensive on their part. I hope the people are responsible for this injustice will be punished as an example to others. Even if Lennox cannot be saved any more (which breaks my heart) it will still be a tribute to him to let those evil people be punished which may save other dogs from the same cruelty. At least Lennox can save his friends by that. I hope that Britain is still capable to show that injustice and corruption will not be celebrated in this country. if not, then I shall just changed my mind about this country and I am sure so shall the world quite logically.

The City Ordinance that targets specific breeds of dogs is irrational and ignorant of the facts. Here in America the dogs that bite are generally of the smaller neurotic breeds. Large breed dogs are not insecure, and unless they are taught to be aggressive, they are friendly and easy to approach. As a lifetime owner of German Shepherds, and a police K9 handler & trainer, I speak from experience.

The people who made the decision to destroy this dog due to his appearance are ignorant and arrogant. This will do serious harm to the reputation to the government of Northern Ireland.

Lennox should be permitted to leave the country, and live out the remainder of his life in peace.

Jan thank you for putting into words what so many of us are feeling. PLEASE BCC FREE LENNOX!! No animal deserves this kind of pain!! Please if you have received any knowledge during the last 2 yrs about dogs and their behavior, I implore you to accept Victoria Silewell or Cesar Milans offers and let someone who is not only phically capable but intelletually capable and has a track record to prove it. Let Lennox live the remainder of his life FREE and in a place where he can be treated and cared for properly and in a place where YOUR claimed fears will NOT be at risk of occuring!! Then all matters of Lennox being a danger can be addressed by professionals who have the home and ability to rehab him from his 2yr ordeal. PLEASE PLEASE HAVE A HEART AND GIVE LENNOX & HIS FAMILY THE GIFT OF LIFE AND BRING AN END TO THIS HORRIBLE PAIN THAT HAS CONTINUED FOR OVER 2 YRS NOW!!!!! THANK YOU, ANOTHER STRONG LENNOX ARMY SUPPORTER!!!!

I also beg you to reconsider this innocent boy’s life to be spared. Have him relocated and he will be out of your way. Dont break the already fragile hearts of thousands around the world. You have the opportunity to do something wonderful here. Please allow him to live the rest of his short life in peace in the US. I can’t imagine how he must feel abandoned. I beg you from Montreal Canada, SAVE LENNOX.

I imagine these bloody ba*tards have dug their heels in and have no intention to giving in to pressure no matter from whom, from where. The world is filled with injustice, ignorance and failure to do the right thing. I grieve for this poor soul, just as I do for all those who are discarded, tortured, burned, shot by people who have no respect for the life of an animal. More than 10,000 cats and dogs, all once beloved by someone, are gassed, heart-sticked, poisoned in American shelters every year, many of them abandoned or discarded by selfish people who don’t understand the meaning of unconditional love and commitment. Where is the outcry about that injustice? The ASPCA sits on its arse collecting donations by running tear-jerker TV ads, and then turns around and fights tooth and nail to prevent passage of legislation that would allow these same animals to be saved. It’s time for the public to say: NO MORE! RISE UP FOR LENNOX AND EVERY OTHER ANIMAL NEEDLESSLY KILLED BY THOSE WHO HAVE THE POWER AND AUTHORITY TO DO SO.

I have aent petitionseverywhere for Lennox. Most camebackto me like the one to the Lord Mayor s Office. They would not hear a word from anyone.

IT SEEMS NORTH IRELAND HAS A MAJOR EGO PROBLEM! NOW THAT THE IRA HAS STOPPED WITH ITS INSANE BOMBS , THE NORTH IRISH AUTHORITIES WANT TO PROVE THEIR INDIPENDENCE OF THOUGHT TO THE WOLO WORLD, INCLUDING TOP ANIMAL BEHAVIORISTS, BY…….. KILLING AN INNOCENT DOG, ONLY GUILTY OF ” NOT LOOKING ” LIKE A NON AGRESSIVE TY
    E OF DOG!!

ISNT THIS RACISM, APART FROM SHOWING THEIR WEAKNESS IN NOT BEING ABLE TO SHOW MERCY BECAUSE THEY RE TOO TAKEN BY THEIR NATIONALISTIC PRIDE???????!

i am completely gobsmacked by how heartless belfast council are. they abduct poor litle lennox from his loving home and his best in the world, Brooke. hw can these people sleep at night? if was done to a human because of the ay they look it would be rascism, but do it to an animal and its fine? what is wrong with these people? if Lennox is murdered, because that is what it is, then i for one, as a irish decendant will never ever set foot in that country.
    FREE LENNOX!!!!!!
