BRASS Ring Competition
BRASS (Beaches Residents Actively Supporting the Symphony) is pleased to announce the 11th Annual BRASS Ring Music Competition on Saturday March 3rd from 10:00am – 4:00pm at Christ Episcopal Church, 400 San Juan Drive in Ponte Vedra Beach. Applications and instructions for mailing your applications are available from music teachers, at the Ponte Vedra Beach Library or online at www.BRASSonline.org. Please note that the deadline for all applications is February 15.
The BRASS Ring is one of the season’s most inspirational events that features the talented youth in our area. The BRASS Ring is a classic instrumental and vocal competition for students in Grades 6 – 12 who reside at the Beaches, whether attending public, private or home schools. Cash prizes are offered for First, Second and Third Place. This year’s event is expected to award $1400 in prizes. Students should prepare two memorized classical pieces of music and bring two copies of the music.
The competition is organized by Dr. Gerson Yessin, an internationally renowned pianist who has performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, The Boston Symphony and San Francisco Symphony. The faculty of University of North Florida voted him “distinguished professor” where he is the founding chairman of the Music Department and Professor Emeritus.
BRASS supports the Jacksonville Symphony and promotes continuing music education in the schools.
