Is It A Good Idea To Sleep With Gun Under Pillow?
“Authorities in Florida said a man who awoke to the sound of his dog barking grabbed a gun from beneath his pillow and accidentally shot himself in the arm.”

John Ebberts of Orange City was smart to have a dog and a gun to protect himself and his property. My pooch always alerts me whenever anybody walks by my home, but I don`t automatically reach for my gun when she barks. When my canine barks in the middle of the night, I go into an alert status, not an emergency mode.
But he wasn`t smart to sleep with a firearm under his pillow, he should keep it under his bed. When your dog wakes you up at an ungodly time off the night, you are in a discombobulated state and it`s too easy to grab the gun under your pillow and do something stupid. Keep your weapon more than an arm`s length away, that way you will have a few more seconds to clear your mind.
Ebberts shot himself in the left forearm with a .410 shotshell. He was taken to a hospital by ambulance for treatment. I wish him a speedy recovery, and I hope he doesn`t blame his faithful dog for his accident.
