Franchise Outlook for 2012 Canine Dimensions & The Pet Industry

As the New Year heads our way, there are many people looking for a ‘new path’ when it comes to their careers - and opening a franchise has become the biggest idea in the business community.  In fact, the figures from the U.S. Department of Labor, as well as the franchise outlook for 2012 from the Franchise Business Review have listed certain sectors of business that are becoming the largest franchise opportunities in America.  And no, we are not speaking about anything that comes with ‘fries.’

It is certainly not a big surprise that the impact of the     recession on consumer spending and attitudes continued to dominate economics in 2011, but there is one sector that seems to be not only dominating the franchise market, but that is also seen as recession proof – and that is pet-related spending.  Whether it be the care and upkeep of pets, or the pet toy market, or pet training services, 2010 and 2011 certainly tested the theory that the ‘world of pets’ is a market that cannot ‘fall off.’  And the result that industry and financial leaders certainly found, is that the pet category is highly recession resistant, with pet-related sales growing from 2009 through 2011. Let’s face it, there aren’t too many categories that can say that in this difficult economic environment!

The overall trend continues to be value for money, which doesn’t necessarily mean spending less, but less frivolously. Pet-related spending will continue to increase.  We say this before speaking of a truly amazing company that is offering pet lovers a proven opportunity to be part of a company that is not only needed, but growing in popularity every single day.

Canine Dimensions In-Home Dog Training is a company founded by Phil Guida, who is a pioneer in the modern science of holistic dog training.  Unlike other dog-training businesses, Mr. Guida took his idea one step further, by taking into account the existing dog training programs that were available in the industry, and combining them with innovative and intuitive methodologies based on the observations of how dogs communicate with one another. This has become such an extraordinary system and ‘school of thought,’ that dog obedience training has been lifted to a much higher level because of the work of Canine Dimensions.

Spending on pet supplies, over-the-counter medicines, as well as dog training was projected to increase 5.1% in 2008, with a continued growth every year of at least 2%, according to the American Pet Products Association (APPA). The projections are all about continued growth in 2012, with no end in sight.

And as we spoke briefly about last week, there are approximately five thousand animal shelters in the United States, with over five million dogs being placed in those shelters each year.  Some of these canines are brought to shelters for behavioral reasons such as fear, aggression, rowdiness and housebreaking issues.  But more and more, people are discovering that often these problems can be solved with the help of professional dog trainers, like the trainers at Canine Dimensions.

This franchise opportunity is definitely supported as being a lucrative one, with the APPA earning the growth they projected from 2008 on, as pet services, such as dog training, increased over 6% throughout the time period with, again, no sign of slowing down for 2012.  Pets are a focus of American consumers right now; even the retail behemoth, Wal-Mart, is expanding its pet grooming facilities into its stores, and pet ‘parents’ are searching for dog trainers because more and more they are including their pets in their own lifestyles (e.g., visits to the spa, exercise regimes, and restaurants have become more common in urban areas).

Even when it comes to dog accommodations, the recession and decline of investment capital has done no damage to the industry as all things ‘canine’ have grown to be a profitable industry.  The estimates from all different types of franchise review sites, as well as statistics from pet organizations, are looking at the ‘total picture’ when it comes to the pet industry. Even the Pet Health Consortium, a new group led by AVMA (the American Veterinary Medical Association) has begun to educate Congress and the public on the importance and benefits of pet health insurance, with the primary goal being to include pet health insurance as an optional pre-tax benefit provided to employees through Section 125 cafeteria plans.

From pet insurance to the world of social networking – which is certainly not new – the successes of pet-related companies are driving more and more pet businesses online. Sales of items such as electronics and books have long benefited from online reviews made by passionate customers. Pet products and services are now catching up with the growing popularity of review sites, with even rescue organizations using social networking as part of their funding drives, such as the ASPCA and The Humane Society.

With the Canine Dimensions dog training franchise system, people actually learn everything there is to know in order to earn a good living in this challenging and rewarding field.  Even though the statistics are solid in terms of a strong financial base, Canine Dimensions also allows people to receive something new from their job – the ability to be happy with their work and surrounded by some truly extraordinary clients.

We have spoken with a few of the Canine Dimensions’ franchisees, with more to come, and people were able to read about the backgrounds of some individuals who were at a crossroads in their lives.  Readers learned that the Canine Dimensions franchisees wanted to do something and be a part of something that they truly wanted to ‘get out of bed for’ in the morning; something that gave them freedom, happiness, and a chance to help others – Canine Dimensions was that opportunity. In as little as ninety days, the Canine Dimensions franchise program is up and running in your community, and offers a sense of pride and reward as you help, support and train one of the most vital ‘beings’ on the planet – the beloved family pet.

And with several new players joining the pet adoption world, more and more people are using systems like PetFinder to locate their perfect pet.  And for many of them, what they need after they bring home that newest family member is the services of Canine Dimensions In-home Dog Training.

If you love dogs and have a yearning to work in the pet industry, Canine Dimensions is not only a thrilling franchise opportunity, but it is one that will not disappear during this tough economic market. There are many franchise opportunities out there today, but very few can provide a good income in addition to an enjoyable career.  By opening a franchise of Canine Dimensions in your own back yard, you get these benefits, plus the security of joining a proven franchise system.  And, as we’ve said before, Canine Dimensions was built on heart!  A better recommendation could not be given.

If you are currently looking at 2012 to perhaps be the time when you change your life and career into something you truly wish to do – the statistics don’t lie.  Canine Dimensions is THE franchise opportunity to check out!

Until Next Time, Everybody!
