St. Augustine’s “Battle of Bloody Mose” Heritage Event on PBS!
The newest episode of PBS’ award-winning Florida Crossroads, a special documentary series focusing on the state’s history, will be “Florida Remembers: St. Augustine”. This latest chapter in the Florida Crossroadsseries will include footage and interviews from the popular historical re-enactment, “The Battle of Bloody Mose.” This annual, heritage Event is hosted by volunteers from Florida Living History, Inc. (www.floridalivinghistory.org ), Fort Mose Historic State Park (www.floridastateparks.org/fortmose/ ), and the Fort Mose Historical Society ( www.fortmose.org/ ), with support from the St. Johns County Tourist Development Council. In 2011, white, black, and Native American re-enactors and volunteers, from across the state and from Georgia, participated in this Event, recreating the decisive Spanish victory in 1740.
“Florida Remembers: St. Augustine” will premiere during the week of October 17th on PBS, and other public, educational, and government stations across the state.
