2011 Jax Film Fest Presents

Jacksonville Music Video Revival

Jacksonville, Fla., October 12, 2011 -The Jacksonville Music Video Revival (JMVR) is a program of the 2011 Jacksonville Film Festival showcasing local musicians and filmmakers.

This October the Jacksonville Music Video Revival will join the newly named and re-branded Jax Film Fest lineup. This year’s film fest will feature a full program of local music videos on the big screen as part of Duval’s premiere showcase of independent film.

The JMVR began last year as a pet project of Jack Diablo and EU Jacksonville with the intended purpose of showcasing local filmmaking and musical talent and the hopes of stimulating a “revival” of the art from here in Jacksonville. In June 2010 the request for music videos began. Videos were submitted at a surprisingly rapid rate. In August 2010,12 original videos, made by local filmmakers and musicians, were shown to an enthusiastic audience at the 5 Points Theatre. As videos continued coming in, a second round of local music videos was shown in October 2010. The JMVR was also shown at the MOCA Theatre during Downtown Art Walk. A Jacksonville Film Festival committee selected a Music Video Revival “Best of” from rounds one and two that were shown as part of 2010 Film Festival. The 2010 EU Emerging Director Award was presented to L. Gustavo Cooper for his direction of the music video, “Dark Horse Saloon”.

Many music videos have been made since then and EU is pleased to offer an outlet for them to be seen by the public. This year the Jax Film Fest will show a full-length program of music videos as part of the Film Fest on Friday, October 14, 2011 at the 5 Points Theatre at 9:15 pm. Saturday Night at the Jacksonville Film Festival Award Ceremony, EU will present the EU Emerging Music Video Director’s Award to one of Jacksonville’s talented filmmakers for their part in the Music Video Revival. The musician and filmmaker will be profiled in EU Jacksonville Newspaper.
