St. Augustine Humane Society names winning pets and owners of the 2012 pet calendar fundraising promotion
St. Augustine, Florida – Oct. 4, 2011 – The St. Augustine Humane Society has completed one of its newest fundraising programs which supports the non-profit’s mission to prevent pet overpopulation with affordable spay neuter programs and to eliminate the relinquishment of pets to shelters.
The organization’s “Pin Up Paws” calendar fundraiser started in July with donors who submitted a photo of their pet to be featured in the 2012 calendar. There was no charge to submit the photos and friends voted for the pet for the owners to win prizes. Visit the website to view the winning pet photos and descriptions atwww.360photocontest.com/102.
The fundraiser’s deadline for pet photo submissions was on September 28 with public voting on October 2. Final judging was completed on October 3. According to Carolyn Smith, St. Augustine Humane Society’s Operations Director, the judging was exciting and a challenge with 129 endearing photo submissions.
The fundraiser netted $8,000 with voting submissions and finished calendars will cost $10 each. Approximately 2,000 calendars will be ready for sale at the Hoots N Howls event on October 22, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., The Events Field on Castillo Drive, in downtown St. Augustine. For more information, visit the event website atwww.hootsnhowls.com. Calendars will also be on sale at the Humane Society, 1665 Moultrie Road in St. Augustine. All proceeds from submissions and vote donations, and sales will benefit the programs and services of the St. Augustine Humane Society.
“We had a fun experience with the calendar fundraiser. The effort demonstrated how much our local pet owners truly care about their pets. The finished calendar will be a permanent reminder of our favorite cats and dogs,” said Smith.
The top photos for the calendar were judged on creativity and originality and determined with public voting along with contest judges including St. Augustine Humane Society staff and members of the Board of Directors.
