6th Graders Find Elderly Tampa Hiker Who Had Been Missing 2 Days

“A group of 6th graders canoeing on Florida`s Hillsborough River found a Tampa hiker who had been missing for two days.

Francis Netto, of Temple Terrace, set out on a 15-mile hike in Wilderness Park Wednesday, an activity he does several times a month, however this time he accidentally fell asleep.

When the hapless hiker woke up it was dark, his cell phone was dead, and he quickly became lost when he tried to find his car.

I would never go hiking in a place called “Wilderness Park”, I`d rather go hiking in Ronald McDonald`s Kids Play Jungle.

Netto`s joy at being rescued, must have been tempered by the embarrassing fact that his saviors were 6th graders.

Maybe it`s time for Netto, 56, to restrict his hiking to small urban parks.

When did 56 become ‘elderly’? In what way was Netto a ‘hapless hiker’? He fell asleep due to medication. Could happen to anyone.
