Join in a lovely evening of decadent chocolate and other delights! This year’s Gala theme is An Evening in Camelot. Medieval costumes are optional, but encouraged. Enjoy sampling chocolate delights from hors d’oeuvres to desserts by local restaurants and shops. The evening will include live and silent auctions and a raffle. The Chocolate Gala takes place at the First Coast Technical College, 2980 Collins Ave., St. Augustine, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20. Sunday: February 22HAITIAN ARTIST BOOK SIGNING
Haitian-American artist Alexandra Barbot, illustrator of the children’s book, “Mommy,” Tell Me About Haiti” will donate 10% of the sales from her book signing at Barnes and Nobles in St. Augustine to disaster relief efforts in Haiti. She will also donate 40% of the sales of her artwork to Haiti relief. In addition to her artistic achievements, Ms. Barbot is well known for her involvements in the Haitian-American Historical Society especially with regard to raising awareness of Haitian contributions to the American Revolution and for her portrait of St. Augustine’s black general Jorge Biassou.
