Old Florida Museum is excited to announce its First Annual Halloween Festival on Friday October 30, 2009 from 6 PM to 9 PM, and Saturday October 31, 2009 from 11 AM to 4 PM. Both days include events such as spooky story telling, games, costume contests, pumpkin carving demonstrations, and more! Saturday will also feature arts and crafts from local artists. Expect lots of candy, fun, and prizes! Everyone who enters receives a free Halloween treat bag! Admission is $4 for everyone age 4 and up. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Visit Friday night for spooky torch-lit stories in the dark from a Timucua Indian guide and early Spanish settler maiden, as well as lots of games both new and old. Afraid of the dark? Saturday offers the same great fun, only a little less scary, for the easily chilled. Come visit before your trick or treating; browse or buy a variety of arts and crafts from area artists.
“We’re very happy to throw our first Halloween party for the community,” said Lauren McLeod, Old Florida Museum’s Educational Coordinator. “It’s great Halloween and family fun, with our Old Florida twist.”

The museum complex includes a Timucua Indian hut, a Spanish wattle and daub house, a Florida Pioneer one-room schoolhouse, and an archaeological dig tent. The museum also includes the 1800′s style Old Florida General Store, featuring many unusual and old-fashioned items.
