Your Business Can be a Success With a Little Help From Some Friends!

 

In 1967 the Beatles were talking about something very different when they sang out the words: “With a Little Help From My Friends.” Even The Rembrandts who got a true hit with “I’ll Be There For You” – which became the monumentally successful theme song of the decade-long TV show, Friends – were speaking on another topic.

 

Nowadays – in this 21st century – friends are still necessary, especially when it comes to the ‘network’ that you accumulate on the World Wide Web. And when it comes to a start-up business, new product, or long-running company – the more “friends” you have, the better everything becomes.

 

Social media, as we have been speaking about these past few weeks, is quickly becoming the one and only strategy to be used as far as marketing and advertising is concerned. In fact, the statistics when it comes to building a company using social media and the slew of ‘networks’ provided by the World Wide Web has grown by leaps and bounds in only the past decade.

 

A company – especially an upstart- must truly delve into all the different sites and networks that are out there in the world today, and make their presence known! Already everyone knows that Facebook is a HUGE conglomerate of ‘friends’ that speak to each other hourly and talk about all the ‘new’ products, gadgets, etc. that are on the market. When one loves something, everyone soon jumps on board as the news starts to spread across the globe from a simple computer screen.

 

A company needs to have the knowledge of these sites and must find a way to utilize them in order to gain clients. After all, one client – just one – can have a truly solid network of ‘friends,’ and once their ‘good opinion’ is given in regards to your company or brand, that good news will be shared to millions of others.

 

But Facebook and Twitter – the true behemoths when it comes to social media – are not the only ones out there. In fact, there are many that are growing daily, with new ‘friends’ joining and searching every day for more information, more products, more companies – and the latest in each and every industry.

 

One in particular is called NING. This is truly a network that all businesses should think of employing. NING is an “Instant Community” where you can place your profile, start ‘chats,’ groups and forums regarding YOUR product and YOUR company that you want everyone to know about. On NING you can organize events. And by making sure that your content is always fresh and unique, you can be positive that the conversation regarding your company will keep going between ‘friends.’ What all companies need to realize is that it’s the actual excitement of the interaction with your niche market that sells your product and makes your business a true success.

 

Businesses are thriving using NING in their media and marketing campaigns. In fact, customers everyday are learning exactly how to ‘brand’ their business on NING, which includes everything from a logo design, to picking various color schemes that are so vibrant they catch the users’ eye immediately and make them want to explore your company further.

 

NING also allows users to create advertising and offers them the ability to run their own ads on their own ‘NING Network.’ And when a company creates partnerships with other networks such as, Google AdSense, NING advertisements become even more helpful to bring in the cash!

 

A social strategy is beyond necessary nowadays. From Facebook to Twitter to Google+ to Pinterest – there are a slew of sites that can get you and your company known almost immediately by building ‘friends’ quickly. With the gift of social sharing, people on your NING site can automatically share information about your company with the rest of the community!

 

But ‘friends’ can also come from other places. ‘Friends’ of all ages, in fact. Therefore, if your product or brand is aimed at, say, a slightly older generation, or even a ‘female-only’ market – there are networks that will offer your company a truly successful advertising ‘stage.’

 

Take CafeMom for instance. This site is all about conversations between Moms. (And, as you know, the one thing that hasn’t changed in the last few centuries is the fact that ‘Mom’ still makes all or most all of the household decisions). Therefore, on CafeMom, companies can see a site where they most definitely can advertise just to the niche market of Moms. They can advertise and become a part of the ‘action’ as Moms meet and speak about all different kinds of products, businesses, interests, events and more. If the female buyer is YOUR niche market – this is a superb site to investigate and join.

 

One of the most proficient networks is LinkedIn. In fact, more and more companies are turning to this particular site because it is THE place to not only make contacts with other industry people, but also set up a niche market and a ‘stage’ for your own company to introduce your services.

 

It’s actually humorous when people learn that LinkedIn began in Reid Hoffman’s (the founder‘s) living room. But in 2003, at the end of only the first month in operation, LinkedIn had boasted a total of 4,500 members in the network. When you fast-forward to 2012, you see companies and industry professionals now joining at the rate of “approximately two new members per second.”

 

This has become the world’s largest professional network on the Internet, now having 161 million members located in over 200 countries. And the most amazing fact for all businesses to learn is that: LinkedIn members did nearly 4.2 billion professionally-oriented searches in 2011 and are on pace to surpass 5 billion in 2012. Talk about making ‘friends!’

 

Although Facebook is certainly the first that businesses turn to (with Twitter running a close second) there are still many networks that are ‘must-haves’ when it comes to marketing and social media campaigns. “Group interests” are the key to making your business a success. Building your network by ‘paying it forward’ and accumulating customers and interested clients with ‘friendships’ being made, is the one and only route to success. Even if your storefront is well-liked and you are doing well in this economy, building a website and implementing a social media campaign will take your company to the next level!

 

What to do next? Research, research, research! This is a world filled with social media platforms that will literally have businesses jumping for joy!
