With Social Media You Can’t Take a Time-Out

 ~ James Moore

Setting up the perfect website is a thrill; having customers and members of your target audience buzzing about the creativity of your visuals and the products and services you sell, is the ultimate goal. But…social media is most BeFirst Media Group-content Marketing-definitely not a one-shot deal. And although many businesses set aside funds in order to gain the help of a graphic designer who knows exactly what they’re doing and exactly how to present true beauty and charm to internet users, they don’t seem to look at the very, very near future, and what will happen once that website is completed.

Time stops for no man, woman or, most especially, business owner. There are many jobs that a business owner must do at all times, and these jobs are known to the entrepreneur when they head into a new area of industry. What they don’t realize – even in this day and age – is the fact that bringing a customer through the door using social media is one thing, but bringing them back again and again is a completely different issue.

Using social media offers businesses a great deal of fun. They can engage with their clients, and become a part of many social media platforms where they can research campaigns, set up mobile apps, be a part of search engines so that people can find them above their competition, etc.. But this is not high school fun and games; social media must be done every single day, 24/7, in order for the company to be a success.

The social media/PR team is that 24/7 guardian and updater for the company. They analyze information and data; they watch out for campaigns to make sure nothing negative is said and, if it is, correct that issue and make sure to put out any fire far before it becomes a raging inferno. The team makes sure to update the content on a continuous basis, because if your website never changes – even if stunning – the customer feels as if you don’t care about them. They are looking for specifics, news, and information they are not aware of – allowing you to be their ‘guru’ in your specific industry. They want the Wizard of Oz – the WOO of the WWW, so to speak, and you must provide them that. This way your company increases ROI and becomes a company that will survive for a good, long time to come.

The social media/PR team, if they understand their job and you pick the one that does, knows the various marketing strategies that are out there to engage, entice and KEEP you customers on board. While they’re on board they are also kept happy, and tell all their friends, release information on their blogs, and more, regarding the fact that your company provides the best there is.

Although there may be a wealth of marketing strategies out there, the goals of all companies are the same: to make money and build a company that will be beloved.

There are many things to think about when looking at your site and your strategy. Content is one of them. If your social media posts look like advertisements, or are ‘cold’ to the customer – which means you are showing no personality whatsoever – you will have a problem. Posts on social media platforms need to provide value to the customer at all times, or they will go somewhere else.

The frequency of your updates is incredibly important in the world of social media. There is NO time-out when it comes to the social media world. Your company must post news, content, events, etc., and not take a breath. Because while you’re taking one, your competitors are not. Always remember that a bored audience can become a nonexistent audience in record time.

And never, ever disregard a customer’s views, questions or needs. If you do not respond, they will take that as a sign that you and your company simply don’t care.

These are your platforms, this is your company, this is your dream that you are building; make sure you build it with a social media/PR team at your side that can help you keep up with the competitors out there so you can go from ‘so-so’ to a major, unbeatable brand!
