Top Five Amenities Available in the Modern RV

Hannah Tolmen recapitulates how much fun it can be to have a modern Recreational Vehicle (RV).

If you have pictures of beige colored walls and vinyl covered furniture when you think of an RV, you better stop and think again. Today’s RVs are both spacious and luxurious, easily rivaling the finest homes in America. If you are considering purchasing an RV, or are looking for ways to make your current RV more comfortable, here are some of the best and most outrageous additions available:

1. Movie Theater

The days of adding tinfoil to rabbit ear antennas for better reception are long gone. Today’s RVs can be outfitted with satellite television and large-screen, flat-panel TVs. For the true movie buffs out there, why not add a fully-functioning movie theater to your RV? Installing a 100-inch, roll-up screen to your RV, along with a few new seats, can turn your camper into a rolling movie theater in a matter of days.

2. Amazing Kitchens

There are kitchens available for RVs that would make Paula Dean drool with envy. From Corian counter tops to antique bronze fixtures; camper kitchens have come a long way. If you are fighting to find a space in your camper to cook a decent meal, giving your RV a kitchen make-over can be the answer to your problems. From four-door refrigerator/freezer combinations to full-service stoves, there is virtually no appliance that can’t be fitted to your camper’s kitchen.

3. Mutliple Levels

There is nothing more startling that seeing a parked RV grow before your eyes. RVs today can be made with second levels that are permanent or collapsible, doubling the living space inside the camper. Having a multiple-story RV is really no different than having a two-story home; you can add bedrooms, entertainment rooms, or even home office to the second level and use the first floor for a main living area.

4. Fitness Centers

If you’re a fitness buff, there’s no reason to leave your exercise program at home. RVs are being outfitted with gyms that rival any fitness center in the world. Complete with cardio equipment and free weights, these gyms can help to ensure that you stay fit, no matter how many times you stop at McDonald’s when you’re on the road. If working out with weights isn’t your thing, consider installing a small boxing ring and a few punching bags in your camper’s gym. The choice of equipment is virtually endless, ensuring that you can stick to your fitness regime no matter where you park your camper.

5. Stunning Bathrooms

When you think of an RV’s bathroom, you probably think of a cramped space, smaller than a closet, with a single toilet and a shower built for half of a person. Modern RVs have come a long way and the camper bathroom has received an exceptional make-over. The new bathrooms come complete with full-size bathtubs, his and her toilets, chrome fixtures and even saunas. If you thought that using the facilities in a camper meant stuffing yourself into a sardine can, you were sadly mistaken.

While the average Joe doesn’t have the cash to outfit his RV like a celebrity, there are some amazing, affordable modifications that can be made. Instead of trying to outfit your entire camper, choose one area to concentrate on that is the most important to you. Your camper should be your private oasis and, thanks to modern design, you can ensure that it is.
