The Power of Teamwork : Flying in Formation

The Power of Teamwork : Flying in Formation

by Betsy Smith

flock of migrating canada geese birdsOn Geese flying in a V formation:   “First, it conserves their energy. Each bird flies slightly above the bird in front of him, resulting in a reduction of wind resistance. The birds take turns being in the front, falling back when they get tired. In this way, the geese can fly for a long time before they must stop for rest.

The second benefit to the V formation is that it is easy to keep track of every bird in the group. Flying in formation may assist with the communication and coordination within the group.”  The Library of Congress

Geese fly in a V formation because as a group, a team it empowers them all to fly for longer.  And in the direct selling industry we all fly together, as well.  It is the power of the team that makes things happen.  Two are more powerful than one alone.

Having worked in corporate jobs in banking and the financial arena for years I know how that works.  It takes an unusual boss to really want you to excel, to be better than they are.  After all, you might get their job!  Some are secure enough, most not.  They want you to do a great job as long as you don’t take the shine from them.

In direct selling and relationship marketing the opposite is true, and I love that.  I am actually looking for people who are better than I am. I want to cultivate and nourish them until they are ready to fly and then I am their biggest champion when they succeed.

This industry not only promotes teamwork, it cannot survive without it.  Even the compensation plan has that built into it.  We cannot rank advance without helping others on our team rank advance.  We all need each other.  And there are at least 5 or 6 people readily available to help anyone who wants it.

If you have not read and taken the Strength Finders book ( and test my suggestion is do it now.  Their entire premise is that we all have strengths and it is important for us to know what they are and to work to enhance our strengths.  Contrary to old schooling where we were told to “fix” our weaknesses.

I love that!  Yes we all have strengths…not everyone is an idea person, but every idea person needs a detail person to help them implement.  Some are better at making things happen but they need someone to do the follow up.  When we all work from our strengths, we all benefit.  When we work as a team, pick each other up and spur each other on things happen. Not to mention it’s more fun!

I have been in the industry for about eight years.  Once I found it I fell in love.  But about nine months ago I found the perfect company in the industry.  Part of the flying V magic is having everything and everyone working together.  At Nerium we have it all.  As Founder, Jeff Olson says, “I wanted to create the perfect networking company.” And he and his co-founders have.  First, the right leadership, proven, breakthrough proprietary products, the right industry (anti-aging), our partnership with a Biotech company, the most powerful compensation plan in the industry, a program where we stock your inventory for free, and a team of people working together that we call the Nerium Ripple.

Yes, we have it all for those looking for some extra monthly income or a large corporate type check today with residual benefits that can be willed to your family.

Check it out!  Kick our tires.  You will find that this one is REAL.  Real results, real income, real people, and real FUN!
