The MassageLuXe Adventurers Head Home

Kendall Park, New Jersey…

This area is not only a stunning town but it also has very quick access to The Big Apple. It was also, unfortunately, the last stop on our summer vacation. School was just around the corner and soon the hundred degree heat would transform (overnight, it seems) into twenty below zero. And then, of course, in about ten minute’s time we would all be whining about how we missed the incredible heat that we are whining about now.

Kendall Park was the last stop before going back to the world of the Connecticut Yankees to look forward to that harsh winter, and it was also the last place on our route that had a magical ‘X’ just drawing Mommy (that’s me, again) to a massage table that would allow me to make yet another memory of pure relaxation before life and work called me back.

Kendall Park has some truly interesting history. In fact, once a rural farming area it actually became a suburban bedroom community. Shelby and I love to learn the history of these villages while our big dog, Reuben, hunts for the next kind neighbor who will share their ice cream, crackerjacks, or roasted chicken with him.

When we went to Kendall Park, one of the attractions near there that we truly loved was The Hoagland-Clark House, which is actually one of the most vulnerable landmarks in New Jersey. It was also truly interesting to learn that Kendall Park is actually a ‘planned community’ which builder, Herbert Kendall, erected between 1956 and the early 1960s.

Being ‘planned,’ the initial layout of Kendall Park offered exactly two styles of 3-bedroom ranch-style homes that were mostly built on 1/3 acre lots, but a wider selection soon came into being as more and more people found out about the beauty that this town provided.

As we learned all of this information and walked through the area, Shelby and I also found ourselves having a brilliant time at ‘Kendall Park Roller Skating’ where she was able to move like Ginger Rogers and I was able to move like Houdini’s famous elephant named Jenny.

After our time there and the many falls I took, that magic ‘X’ was practically screaming out to me (just as loud as my bones were screaming at me, telling me that I was far too old to try balancing on wheels; especially considering that on stable ground I trip over my own two feet.)

So as the car once again steered itself to the place that would get rid of all the aches I now had from my bad decision to relive childhood, I breathed a sigh of relief as the turquoise and rich reddish brown earth tones of the MassageLuXe building came into sight.

“Escape and Relax-The Benefits are Endless.” That motto, slogan – whatever you want to call it – was all I needed for a smile to come to my face and stay there.  Upon entering that blissful air conditioning and listening to that calm, soothing music, everything was ALL good!

From Massage Therapists to Cosmetologists to Physical Therapists – it was all there. The list for the MassageLuXe services is like the menu at a five-star restaurant, by the way. Swedish, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, Aromatherapy, Bio-Mat – and those don’t even begin to cover the list of FaceLuXe signature facials. I mean…the list goes on and on, and it felt as if the staff was just waiting there to make my life better. Talk about being treated like a princess.

Taking a step back from work, school, heck – even laundry issues – is something that all of us need to do in the chaos that is our lives. Family vacations will always remind you of this; taking the time out for YOU and being able to give a gift to yourself by enjoying health benefits and pure relaxation within the walls of a MassageLuXe should be on the top of everyone’s list! Even Shelby was thrilled every time we walked into a franchise with each one being even more spectacular than the last. Not only was the stress of the ‘road’ taken away in minutes, but the tension relief also gives one and all serious help with an improved immune system and lower blood pressure – which everyone needs nowadays.

I think the most amazing thing about these magical ‘X’s marking the spots that Shelby and I (and Reuben, of course) would stop at in order to learn and meet the people out there across America, was that MassageLuXe is a spa that knows every single person coming through their doors is different.  Not to mention the MassageLuXe mission to “deliver the highest quality massage, facial and waxing services in an environment that is both luxurious and relaxing to all of our guests” is very true. Boy, they’ve nailed that on the head! Talk about the high standards that MassageLuXe delivers…it will be no surprise to see them become the industry leader very soon.

After sheer perfection had come to an end, Shelby and I moved on and said goodbye to the world of Kendall Park, NJ and the magic ‘X’s. (Why is that, you ask? Because MY city, state, and town haven’t yet opened a MassageLuXe franchise in my area – which I am TOTALLY going to change the second we get back home).

Riding the sixty minutes to the extraordinary Westminster Hotel, Shelby and I decided to end our trip first-class all the way. After all, our MassageLuXe American Journey had provided us with a perfect family vacation and staying our last night in a stunning hotel was the cherry on top.

What can I say? As we drove back across the state line and into our own neighborhood, the smiles Shelby and I exchanged were heartfelt. Pulling into our driveway we idled for just a bit as Reuben stood up and stuck his head between the seats. We were all trying to ‘put our heads together’ in order to figure out what street in our neighborhood was just calling out for a magical ‘X’ to be built for one and all!

Autumn is coming…it’s a great time to build… Maybe we can even erect a donut shop right next door to our MassageLuXe. That way Reuben will have his dream come true too!

Until Next Time, Everybody!

Amy

The Season Begins by Amy Lignor   Yes, it’s finally time to get down to some real business when it comes to the world of sports. Because football is back and Sundays are no longer “nothing to … [Read More its Good for You...]

Vacation Time Has Turned “Spooky”

Vacation Time Has Turned “Spooky” by Amy Lignor   Myths and legends, both spooky and surreal, are becoming the subject of many books and newspaper articles lately. Now, however, people are searching for places to travel where legends still exist, and … [Read More its Good for You...]
