The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort

The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort

Incredible History, Majestic Views – A Truly Outstanding Experience!

Readers, this week we are going to begin an extremely amazing journey with The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort.  We all know that 2011 was a bit difficult for most, but beginning 2012 by speaking about the most luxurious paradise that exists in our own backyard is certainly a step in the right direction.

The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort has been in operation for over seventy-five years, and has become even more inviting every day since.  Back in 1935, this Eden was a seaside dance club, until 1941when the main hotel building opened to the public as The King and Prince Hotel.  With their modern features and magnificent views of the ocean – the reviews, as you can imagine, were beyond exemplary.

But it was not only perfection that this stunning place offered to others, they also played a large part in our history.  The historic Coast Guard station which was used during WWII is still a part of the surrounding area, now housing the Maritime Center.  For The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, the main building played a prominent part in wartime by serving as a naval coast-watching and training facility until re-opening in 1947 as the favorite island resort it has remained ever since.  It was in 1996 that The King and Prince became a member of the prestigious Historic Hotels of America; and in 2003, the resort’s main building underwent a stunning restoration project that resulted in the addition of fifty-seven new guest rooms.  But the King and Prince is far more than just a guest experience, this is a true oasis in the United States with so much to offer that we must touch on each facet of this incredible world.

The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort is located on St. Simon’s Island, which is the largest part of Georgia’s fabled “Golden Isles.”  After being cultivated by English colonists, this group of islands created the unique Gullah culture before being developed into the resort community that they’ve become.  Hosting many seasonal visitors, as well as being the home to many year-round residents, this is one area that people want to – and, hope to – arrive in one day,  Since the Civil War, all of the islands (except for Little St. Simon’s Island) have become elite resorts, with The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort at the top of everyone’s list.  So rich in history, this is an area of our country that offers relaxation attained in a beautiful setting, making it the perfect spot for vacations, events, and so much more.  Here, a day at the beach, on the water, or sight-seeing can be had, and the sites surrounding the resort are not ones that any visitor will ever forget.  From St. Simon’s Island Lighthouse, built in 1811, which is both an active lighthouse for navigational purposes and a museum, and is open for any sightseer who loves maritime history; to Christ Church and Fort Frederica, which are also “on-tap” for the sight-seer’s fancy.

Stepping into The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort makes you feel as if you have every luxury and amenity at your disposal.  It is no wonder that this particular resort has been praised by all its guests dating back to the 1930’s.  With just a stroll down the exquisite beach, ocean front dining is offered at the King’s Tavern, as well as a poolside area, the Paradise Beach Bar & Grill.  There are not one but, five pools, to immerse yourself in and simply forget about the rest of the world for a while.

Yet the majesty of this vacation will hit long before you’re in any of these pools.  Like a fantastic conductor who is gearing up their orchestra to really shine, just the arrival on St. Simon’s Island is positively breathtaking.  Crossing a five-mile causeway that stretches over an endless vista of rivers, salt marshes and the Atlantic Ocean, you soon find yourself in another land, as if that single causeway was a true transport device that left all of your worries and stresses far behind.  Once on the Island, you find yourself in a stunning picturesque area that is filled with everything from rich history, beaches, recreation and boutiques to exceptional restaurants.

To name just a few luxuries you will receive when walking through the doors of this elegant vacation dream, everything from the ocean front dining to the Royal Treatment Cottage, which specializes in massage therapies and treatments, are yours to enjoy. Two and three bedroom Oceanfront Villas, as well as partial ocean view villas are available.  Each Beach Villa is a seaside paradise, offering everything from stunning views to private pool and hot tub, gas grills, and gated parking.

From the indoor to the outdoor!  The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort offers an award-winning golf course that comes with this stunning vacation.  The King and Prince Golf Course, Home of the Hampton Club, is absolutely stunning.  Including mature forests and vast salt marshes that are located along the northern coast of St. Simon’s Island, the beautifully preserved surroundings offer a glimpse of the native wildlife, and stunning coastal scenery – which makes for a very challenging layout.  Featuring island holes that were carved from the small coastal marsh island and accessed by elevated cart bridges, there are numerous marshes; and the vast Butler Lake makes the scenery almost too good to look away from as you begin your round.  With a complimentary exercise facility, as well as the Har-Tru tennis courts, everyone can stay in shape after the amazing gourmet dining they receive.

In addition, if you are searching for the absolute perfect locale to hold that event or wedding, there is no other place to look besides The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort’s wealth of catering, wedding and special event services – not to mention their ten thousand square feet of ocean front meeting, conference and function space.

Being the four-time winner of the “Successful Meetings Pinnacle Award” really says it all.  The Pinnacle Award has earned the reputation as being  the most credible and prestigious symbol of excellence among meeting planners and hoteliers, and The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort is most assuredly their choice for ‘best of the best.’

And, of course, they were not alone.  From the 5-Star and the AAA 5-Diamond Award to the “Convention South Readers’ Choice Awards,” The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort is honored by three distinguished publications: Successful Meetings, Convention South, and Meetings South. Travel writers praise the resort to all who read, describing the remarkable allure and beauty that St. Simon’s Island and The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort have to offer.

In fact, after just one glance at their website, I am absolutely positive that vacations will be growing longer and longer very soon.

Until Next Time, Everybody.

We Are Still…All in This Together!

We Are Still…All in This Together! by Amy Lignor   December 7, 1941. Sunday morning was lovely on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. A typical Sunday, in fact, where people were moving calmly and in a relaxed “weekend-mode” stance at the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Fleet Headquarters. Just before the clocks struck 8:00 a.m., however, the country of Japan launched planes from six aircraft carriers in what would be considered the “first wave” of … [Read More its Good for You...]
