The Green Register Talks Abut the Coolest ‘Green’ Holiday Gifts You’ve Ever Seen!

The Green Register, as all readers know by now, is a website that is completely knowledgeable about the world of “green.”  From tips on solar energy to green housing development, to offering readers lists of companies that recycle waste and keep our planet clean, to articles and information about businesses that sell ‘green’ products and services to the masses, THIS is the online site that provides it all!

The Green Register has become a huge online community for individuals and businesses that wish to do their part to save the planet.  And now that the holidays are upon us, everyone is heading out to do their shopping and buy that Christmas tree to put in the living room and decorate with those lights and ornaments – continuing family traditions that have gone on for centuries.  Of course, with this Christmas spirit comes certain issues such as, trying to find that ’cool’ gift while still concentrating on keeping the environment safe and clean.  So this week, we are taking a look at gifts that can be bought and given to all of your friends and family, while keeping nature in the forefront of your mind!

The Green Register online magazine touches on all different areas of gift-giving, offering absolutely everyone the best information possible on keeping the planet clean and the environment safe -eliminating that ‘carbon footprint’ of ours that can very possibly cause severe hurt to our future.  Eco-friendly and environmentally-friendly products, services, buildings, home design styles, gifts – everything – is out there to save our planet for the generations coming up behind us who WANT to continue those holiday family traditions for a very long time to come.  And The Green Register will lead us to success!

This is the time where the stockings are ‘hung by the chimney with care,’ and those fantastic smelling cookies that Grandma used to make are baking in that oven. Whether you feel mad or sad – or simply having a brutal Monday at work – this is the time of the year where even icky snow looks like a gift and not a trial.

The only stress this time of year comes from money, and the overwhelming urge or need or want to shop the mall and wrap those gifts!  But even with this stress, there IS a way to ‘go green’ for the holidays and make sure everyone has a wonderful time while doing your little bit to save the environment in the process.  Yes, this is the season of indulgence, but indulging in Grandma’s cookies is a way better thing to do than buying gifts that are unnecessary.  With Grandma’s cookies there is no carbon footprint, and a very ‘happy’ tummy is given to everyone!

Here are some tips on where you can begin with your ‘green’ gift list.  Sometimes that phrase means to simply buy fewer gifts, while other times it means to look for recycled paper goods – find holiday cards and holiday wrapping paper that are recycled – or, better yet, use your own creativity and intuitiveness to make versions of both.

To make that luscious Holiday dinner ‘green’ doesn’t mean that all you eat is vegetables.  No, no.  Simply look for local, seasonal ingredients, organic turkeys, and even give out organic cocktails to your guests!  Again…fun, creative and good.

When it comes to wreaths and trees, look in your ‘neck of the woods’ and choose fresh greens and pesticide-free trees – even trim them with energy-slashing LED lights. You save money and your house looks simply beautiful!  And always keep in mind that the holidays are not about gifts.  Presents are not what Christmas is all about; having the ability to celebrate life with your family and friends, and getting together to be thankful for the blessings that you have received, is the real message of Christmas.  And the natural world around you is one of those truly stunning blessings that we should not only be thankful for, but try in our own little ways to save.

The Treehugger Holiday Gift guide is a fabulous online site that is dedicated to introducing the best ‘green’ gifts available this holiday season.  There are ten categories that list all different types of gifts that stem from the seriously thoughtful to some of the most durable gifts available on the market.

And the types of gifts you can find are so unique and interesting, that your gift is sure to never end up buried in a closet because the recipient simply didn’t like it.  You’re talking about sleek bracelets that are made out of Vietnam war scrap metal to space-saving convertible chairs – an unbelievably creative gift that is a chair, stool and table combined.  There are adorable gifts for the animal lover from sushi cat toys to lovely pet ‘adoptions’ that can be made.  Hasn’t your best friend always wanted a shark, or a lemur?  Now they can own one.  And for plant lovers, you can always find plush ‘green’ gifts from actual plants to indoor planters.  Each and every category of gift shows a huge amount of respect for the earth.  There are also hundreds of charities that you can help and receive certificates to give out to your friends – a gift that ACTUALLY will fill them with pride and respect because it is a gift that is helping others!

When it is the ‘fahsionista’ that you wish to buy for, or the outdoorsman, there are everything from recyclable sleeping bags to hiking boots made of recycled rubber; sweaters and long johns for keeping warm when that snow falls, and stylish, sustainable fashion that includes everything from classic bangles made with repurposed scrap metal to fancy ‘kicks’ handmade by artisans in Guatemala.  Not only are things like this what you would call ethical fashion, but they are also seriously cool conversation pieces.  Your wardrobe is awesome and others want to know all about it.  After all, isn’t that what real fashion is supposed to do?

Food, except for that usual hideous-tasting fruitcake, is one of the least wasteful gifts that you can give.  And kitchen accessories is another truly fun way to go for that ‘master chef’ that’s hiding in a great many people.  Kitchen tools, ingredients, even hand-cranked espresso machines and beautiful servers, are amazing gifts for the ‘foodies’ in your life.

So you see?  There are millions of ‘green gift’ ideas for literally everyone on your list.  And not only are they cool and easy-to-use, but they are gifts that will never end up being returned.

The Green Register is THE place to get information like this and more regarding your Holiday gift list!  You can save money, buy the perfect gift, and all the while protect and heal our environment!

Next week we will give you all the facts about how to recycle those amazing Christmas trees that are going up in homes across the country, and you will be amazed to find out all the information there is to know about making sure that beautiful tree goes from your living room decoration to a piece that can help save the natural world!  Until then, check out The Green Register before you head out to that mall to find that perfect gift!

Until Next Time, Everybody!
