It is easy to let self-doubts creep in and in fact even the most successful and self-confident individuals occasionally get bitten by this “bug.” Jeff Olson, CEO and founder of Nerium International calls it the “funk.” Usually it involves questioning ourselves, reviewing all our mistakes, doubting all our decisions, and just generally feeing crummy. It is a downward spiral of negative thoughts and sometimes coupled with behavior that is also self-defeating, such as pigging out on chocolate, drinking too much or blowing the budget at your favorite store; all things that rarely solve the problem of the funk. A better option; shift your focus to others. Volunteer at a favorite charity, perform a few random acts of kindness, call a friend or family member and ask about their life. This should put things back in perspective and help you regain a positive sense of self.
