New Vest Raises Treestand Safety

It’s estimated that more hunters each year are injured in tree stand accidents than by firearms. Sadly, serious injury and accidental death are two tragic realities of trees stand hunting.
Companies like Hunter Safety System, work hard to increase public awareness of tree stand safety and offer innovative new equipment that enhances safety and comfort.

Offerings include more lightweight, wearable alternatives to old-fashioned harnesses. One of the year’s most exciting introductions is the new HSS-Elite Series full body arrest system vest from Hunter Safety System.

This latest addition to the company’s product line incorporates an innovative, thoughtful design with superior wear ability. elite-vestOffering greater functionality than basic harness systems, the HSS-Elite series vest is a natural choice for any safety-minded hunter who values comfort in the stand.

Weighing in at less than 3 pounds, the Elite delivers increased comfort and performance. Treestand hunters no longer have to choose between following safety protocols and feeling comfortable in the stand as they wait for the perfect shot.

It’s apparent from first glance that the newly engineered Elite perfectly fuses the elements of form and function. For starters, the high-performance zippered vest features the new Realtree Xtra® pattern – a warm 3D pattern perfect for early season fall or spring foliage. But the beauty of the Elite goes far beyond it appearance. It’s smartly designed, with no dangling straps to catch or buckles to create unwanted stand clatter. This is a true hunter’s dream that allows easier motion with a minimum of restriction, so sudden noises are minimized. And unlike earlier generations of safety vests, which were bulky, stiff and many found uncomfortable, the Elite fits close to the body. It’s crafted in a Comfort Cool fabric that’s easy to wear.

Noise in the stand is minimized with a wealth of covered closures and padding. The Elite sports a patented HSS system harness with a newly designed tether strap that’s more shock absorbent. Its two-way, easy-out zipper protects the waist buckle, reducing the clatter caused by equipment like binoculars, whistles or cell phones. And because the tether is enveloped in high-performance smart fabrics that are durable and silent, the wearer can count on stand experience that’s quieter. That means fewer lost shots when game is startled.

Coverage in the Right-Fit zone keeps the Elite snug and smooth for hunters of all sizes and body types. The shoulder area features a unique silicone print with a textured surface that keeps backpacks and slings from slipping while walking in the field. And for the hunter who keeps a lot of gear close at hand (don’t they all?), the Elite will not disappoint. It boosts a unique Six-Plus-TwoTM pocket design comprised of two large bellows pockets with magnetic closures, a pair of divider pockets to keep gear separated and quiet, plus two pockets that provide easy access to such field essentials as mouth calls or cell phones.

Field testers report that everything about the Elite is an improvement over other, older designs. Even putting it on is easy. The hunter simply slips both arms through the vest, connects the waist buckle, routes the leg straps between the legs, connects the Power Lock buckles on the leg straps, and then zips up. After attaching the tether to the Prussic knot on a LifeLine, the hunter is ready and prepared for a safe hunt from the time they leave the ground until they climb back down!

Hunter Safety System is committed to ongoing product improvements that keep safety a key part of tree stand hunting every season. New products like the HSS-Elite have moved Hunter to the forefront of safety innovation.
