St. Johns County Provides Free Sandbags to Residents
to Prevent Potential Flooding from Tropical Storm Chantal
St. Johns County, FL. – St. Johns County’s Road and Bridge Department is coordinating four pick-up locations for the public to acquire free sandbags in preparation for Tropical Storm Chantal. The Road and Bridge Department will furnish sand and bags. Residents must provide their own transportation and shovels, and they will be responsible for filling their own bags. There is a maximum allocation of 50 bags per person. Sand and bags are available between 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Friday, July 12, through Sunday, July 14, at:
- · Palm Valley—under the Palm Valley bridge on the east side of the Intracoastal Waterway
- · Collier-Blocker-Puryear Park—the parking lot at the Holmes Blvd. and West King St. intersection
- · Town of Hastings—Town Hall, 6195 S. Main St., behind the building
- · Mills Field—overflow parking area, 1805 Racetrack Rd.
