St. Johns County Fire Rescue will join the St. Augustine Airport, The St. Johns County Airport Authority, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and Northrop Grumman in a joint Airport Rescue Drill scheduled for the Morning of Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 10:00 am at the St. Augustine Airport.
Responders will be faced with an aircraft crash scenario consisting of a commercial aircraft carrying 25-35 passengers that crashes during an emergency landing. Responders will encounter multiple victims, fire and smoke. Crews will operate and respond as if this is an actual incident, including mitigating the crash site and the treatment and transport of multiple patients suffering from significant traumatic injuries.
A media staging area will be located next to the St. Augustine Airport hanger and parking area. Please park in the St. Augustine Airport Parking area adjacent to the drill site.
Onsite contact during the drill will be either Kevin Harvey with the St. Johns County Airport Authority, Lt Jeremy Robshaw with SJCFR or Sgt Catherine Payne with the SJCSO.
