St. Augustine Humane Society participates In:

St. Augustine Humane Society participates in the Columbia Restaurant’s
Community Harvest program in September

St. Augustine, Florida – Sept. 14, 2011 – Let your appetite do the giving
while you support the St. Augustine Humane Society by dining at any Columbia
Restaurant in St. Augustine during the entire month of September for lunch
or dinner. The local Humane Society is participating in this year’s 14th
Annual Columbia Restaurant Community Harvest program.

Through this program, the Columbia will donate 5 percent of all guests’
lunch and dinner checks to the Humane Society when chosen by their
customers.  The Community Harvest takes place in all of the Columbia
Restaurant locations in Florida including St. Augustine, Tampa, Sarasota,
St. Petersburg, Clearwater Beach, and Celebration.

“We appreciate the Columbia and the restaurant company’s start of this
program in 1998 as a way to help many of the worthy non-profit groups that
are so important to our community,” said Carolyn Smith, St. Augustine Humane
Society’s Operations Director.  “We join the restaurant in letting patrons
know about our mission to prevent pet overpopulation with affordable spay
neuter programs and to eliminate the relinquishment of pets to shelters,”
she said.

The process is for customers at the Columbia is to put a check mark next to
the name of the charitable organization listed on the form provided by
server and that they would like the Columbia to donate five percent of their
check.

Over the past thirteen years, the Columbia Restaurant Community Harvest has
donated over $1,181,000 to non-profit organizations throughout Florida.

The St. Augustine Humane Society promotes responsible pet ownership and
strengthens the human-animal bond through education and training; works to
reduce the relinquishment rate of pets to shelters through assistance
services and through effective, affordable spay and neuter efforts; and is a
resource center for the citizens and animals of St. Johns County, Florida.

The facility is located at 1665 Moultrie Road in St. Augustine, Fla.
Business hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am until 4 pm. Closed on
