St. Augustine Humane Society nears deadline for 2012 pet calendar
fundraising promotion, Sept. 28
St. Augustine, Florida – September 26, 2011 – The St. Augustine Humane
Society and one of its newest fundraising programs supports the non-profit’s
mission to prevent pet overpopulation with affordable spay neuter programs
and to eliminate the relinquishment of pets to shelters.
The organization’s “Pin Up Paws” calendar fundraiser started in July and
allows donors to submit a photo of their pet to be featured in the 2012
calendar. There is no charge to submit the photos and friends can vote for

The fundraiser is nearing a deadline for pet photo submissions on Wednesday,
September 28 with final judging on Sunday, October 2.
“It’s fun and easy to participate and demonstrate how much you care about
the pets and citizens of St. Johns County. The finished calendar will remind
us of our many favorite furry friends,” said Carolyn Smith, St. Augustine
Humane Society’s Operations Director.
Photos can be submitted online and voters can contribute as little as $5 as
a tax-deductible donation through a secure online payment system. The voting
period ends at 11:59 pm on October 2. For more information, call

Approximately 2,000 colorful, full-size calendars will be printed to depict
the human-animal bond. The calendars will be distributed as thank you gifts
to calendar photo fundraiser participants who raise over 50 votes, donors of
$100 or more over the past year, and St. Augustine Humane Society
volunteers. The remaining calendars will be available for sale in October
with an online purchase, by phone, or at the Humane Society location, 1665
Old Moultrie Rd. All proceeds from submissions and vote donations, and sales
will benefit the programs and services of the St. Augustine Humane Society.
Top photos for the calendar will be judged on creativity and originality and
determined with public voting along with contest judges including St.
Augustine Humane Society staff and members of the Board of Directors.
Winners will be notified and must participate in a professional photo shoot
on Wednesday, October 5 at the Lightner Museum courtyard from 2:00 pm to
5:00 pm. Collage page winners will include all pets that have received at
least five votes.
Prizes include items such gift certificates from the local Columbia
Restaurant, free copies of the 2012 calendar, tote bags, and commemorative
paw print tiles by Westside Studio in St. Augustine, among others.
Additionally, the non-profit has launched a Facebook fan contest. The first
250 fans to “like” the St. Augustine Humane Society on the website are
eligible to win a $100 gift certificate from the Columbia Restaurant. The
Humane Society is an approved partner in the Columbia’s Community Harvest
program. The restaurant will also donate five percent of a diner’s bill to
the St. Augustine Humane Society during the month of September. Visit the
