St. Johns County Fire Rescue (SJCFR) will host a recognition ceremony on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 4:00 pm at the St. Johns County Commission Auditorium located at 500 San Sebastian View. This ceremony will focus on several recent medical emergencies where patients were found in cardiac arrest and were subsequently brought back to life through the combined efforts of bystanders, 911 dispatchers and SJC Firefighters and Paramedics.
SJCFR has consistently been at the forefront of Emergency Medicine, and through our EMS program we have recently seen a significant increase in patient outcome when experiencing out of hospital cardiac arrest in St. Johns County. This has been in part due to the development of our community based care, American Heart Association CPR/AED program as well as recent advances in pre-hospital Advanced Life Support medical care currently being put to use by SJC
During the ceremony Friday, SJCFR will bring together several patients and crews who have recently been cardiac arrest victims and recognize the bystanders and rescuers for the efforts they made in saving a life. The patients will have the opportunity to meet face to face with the rescuers who responded to their emergency for the first time
since the incident.
SJCFR will provide time for media representatives on site to interview program participants on the individual details of their case at the conclusion of the formal ceremony.
In addition to the recognition of the CPR/AED program, SJCFR will also be recognizing the 2012 Firefighter and Paramedic of the Year, several Department Commendations, Department Promotions and Department New Hires.
The program is scheduled to start at 4pm and is anticipated to conclude in approximately 1-hour.
