A business needs to think about this, because before anyone pushes a ‘publish’ button to upload everything as simple as an article to a video, graphic, website, blog, etc. – “tagging” must first be done in order to set everything up so that your business can jump closer and closer to the top of the Google search list. In addition, you need to be able to set up your site so that a reader – a member of your audience – can search for the information they wish to find. From the archives of your blog, to the latest video on YouTube, to the latest link offering your news and information, or a published article about you appearing in a major newspaper, the audience members have to know how to get there!

“Tags,” are a way of organizing your blog or website so that keywords in the text can be highlighted. If your company name is used in an article, it is “tagged” so that when the reader clicks on that blue phrase or name, they head directly into your site to see more!

“Tagging” is actually the way Google, itself, finds blogs, the latest news and information for an industry, a new company that’s being ‘buzzed’ about, etc.; so these “tags” must be pertinent to the search item. Such as, if you place a general item into the Google search bar such as ‘restaurants’ – a list of millions will come up. To narrow down your search, you would call up something along the lines of your city and state, restaurants, giveaways, events, etc., to better narrow it down so that the Google ‘ghosts’ can wade through the information in seconds and call up the best ‘results’ for the consumer. So the closer your company’s “tags” are to what the consumer is looking for – the bigger the chance you have for them to see your company the second they put in their search requirements.
