Shakespeare Ugly Stik

Tough. Indestructible. To describe a fishing rod, those are uncommon words. But they fit the Ugly Stik. When you’ve been ugly for 37 years, the name and the reputation stick.

That’s right. The Shakespeare Ugly Stik has been around since 1976. That’s when broken rod tips virtually became a thing of the past. It’s when Shakespeare introduced the innovative Howald Process that is the backbone of the Ugly Stik. It’s when the designers unknowingly came up with an idea for a rod tip that would become iconic and synonymous with the Ugly Stik. The Ugly Stik Clear Tip is iconic for delivering extra strength where it’s needed and the sensitivity to detect the lightest strike.

Ugly Stick LogoThe Ugly Stik just got a modern update. The tip is the same and so is the backbone of the rod. What’s new is the name. It’s called the Ugly Stik GX2. Think of it as the next generation of Ugly Stik. There are more features that make the Ugly Stik even better than the first generation.

How tough is the Ugly Stik GX2? Tough enough for Shakespeare to send a single rod alone across the country on a nationwide tour. The rod is being passed hand-to-hand by legions of Ugly Stik fans all across they country. They’re putting the rod to the test on their home waters.

Check out the scene at the new website, www.UglyStik.com/Tour. You can find info on the new Ugly Stik GX2 and watch webisodes about the fans. You’ll meet Mike Hutt, whose first Ugly Stik was given to his wife. She gave it to their son. He’s probably on the lake using it now.

How would you like to try out the one Ugly Stik GX2? Show up your friends and show off your fishing skills on your home lake. You can do it. Just nominate yourself or a buddy to be part of the #theUglyTour. Go there to track the travels and stats of the rod as it moves across the country.

There are plenty of places and spaces to tell your Ugly Stik story and read about others. You can find social media channels on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. There’s a Facebook page too. Join it at www.Facebook.com/UglyStikFishing.

There Are Superheroes Among Us

There Are Superheroes Among Us by Amy Lignor   This story truly proves that a superhero does not require a cape, tights, or the ability to fly. In a world where all headlines seem to be centered around who shot who, who is being put upon, who’s “getting away with it” – all the way to who is getting divorced and who may or may not be kneeling at NFL games – negative stories seem to be the only ones covered anymore by the media. … [Read More its Good for You...]

Vacation Time Has Turned “Spooky”

Vacation Time Has Turned “Spooky” by Amy Lignor   Myths and legends, both spooky and surreal, are becoming the subject of many books and newspaper articles lately. And the location of many, oddly enough, happen to be in the Southwest. It used to be that a nice white sandy beach was the one place we yearned to go on vacation to get away from it all. Now, however, people are searching for places to travel where legends still exist, and … [Read More its Good for You...]

Doing Our Part

Doing Our Part by Amy Lignor   There are books being published as of late – wonderful books telling the stories of amazing wildlife rescues, as well as neighborhoods and communities across the U.S. that have taken on projects to save the wildlife in their own surrounding areas.   We always talk about these “success stories,” yet never actually give information on exactly how these “problems” turned into “victories.” … [Read More its Good for You...]
