Prefab Homes: The New ‘Green’ Trend for 2012!

 

The Green Register has been spoken about every week for many months, and the biggest thrill comes from the fact that a great many people are now changing their lives little by little on order to save the world around them. Every time we speak about the newest information, articles, products and services that The Green Register promotes, more people are jumping on the ‘green’ bandwagon and realizing that they have the power within themselves to change the future.

Recently, reports have been released that show the outlooks in many industrial areas for 2012.  One of these extensive areas that experts are discussing is the fact that the real estate market may soon see an upswing in sales.  And, according to these experts and professionals, prefabricated homes, will be one of the biggest categories of business when it comes to real estate and the choices people are making to save money and save their natural resources all at the same time.  Prefab homes, for those of you who do not know, are dwellings manufactured off-site in advance, and are usually in standard sections that can be easily shipped and assembled once they reach the purchased lot.  Some current prefab home designs include details inspired by truly interesting and unique ‘futuristic’ ideas that are spawning creativity in the field of architecture.

 

In the United States, several companies began offering mail order kit homes all the way back in 1902 – before the Industrial Revolution came along to throw a wrench into people’s way of thinking.  One of the largest retailers of prefab homes was Sears, who provided the Sears Catalog Homes in the U.S.  In Britain, over one hundred and fifty thousand prefabricated homes were built between 1945 and 1948.  In fact, after World War II, prefabricated houses in Germany for members of the occupying force of the United States of America were all the rage.

 

As more and more people begin to see the problems that stem from our natural resources withering away, prefab homes have made a comeback, and are becoming more and more popular as we move forward.

 

In fact, modern architects are experimenting with prefabrication as a means to deliver well-designed and mass-produced modern homes.  These homes are featuring clean lines and open floor plans, which is exactly what the American public is asking for.  Because of the more simplistic design, the savings is amazing and the prefab home construction industry is growing rapidly.

 

From Australia to Asia, from the U.K. to America, these prefab homes are THE choice for the real estate market in 2012. Not only do they allow us to respect our natural resources, but the prefab home requires much less labor when compared to conventional houses.

 

When people think of living in an “ecological house” they become excited by the prospect.  In addition to prefab homes, these ‘green’ houses that are becoming bigger and bigger in the industry conserve energy, water, food and materials, and can even produce more of these vital resources than it actually uses.

It is good to remember that climate scientists believe we are looking at a ten-to-fifteen year window of opportunity to start slowing down the global warming trend – and being able to reduce the energy used in buildings is a big part of making that dream into a reality.  Obviously new buildings should conform to energy-use standards, and ideally they would be energy producers if they were equipped with solar panels.  However, if we don’t do something to ensure that our existing housing is energy efficient and energy productive, and only concentrate on building new homes, then any large steps we take in saving the environment will be reversed. Therefore, investing in prefab homes or retrofitting the homes we already have is a great trend when it comes to saving our natural resources.

 

As a society, we need to decide whether we’re going to get serious about global warming, and giving careful consideration to real estate is an essential part  of creating that new environment.  Now, there is no need to actually feel guilty about building a new home, but with the purchasing of prefab housing, the world can ‘go green’ at a much more rapid pace.
