PONTE VEDRA CONCERT HALL ADDS JOHNNY WINTER AND TOMMY EMMANUEL TO 2013 LINEUP

The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall has announced two new shows for the 2013 season: Blues guitarist, singer and producer Johnny Winter will perform Valentine’s night Thursday, February 14th and Two-time Grammy nominee Tommy Emmanuel will perform Thursday, February 21st.

WINTER began his career in 1969 signing with Columbia Records. He immediately laid out the blueprint for his fresh take on classic blues with a powerful blend of authentic Texas funk and his own high energy version for the legions of fans just discovering the blues via the likes of Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. Johnny has always been one of the most respected singers and influential guitar players in rock and the clear link between British blues rock and American Southern rock ala the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Winter also produced three Grammy Award-winning albums for blues legend Muddy Waters. Since his time with Waters, Johnny Winter has recorded several Grammy-nominated blues albums. In 1988, he was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and in 2003, he was ranked 74th in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”.

EMMANUEL is an Australian guitarist known for his complex fingerstyle technique, energetic performances and the use of percussive effects on the guitar. At the age of 4, Tommy received his first guitar and by age 6 he was a working professional musician. Throughout his career he has played with many notable artists including Chet Atkins, Sir George Martin, Eric Clapton, John Denver, Edgar Cruz and Doc Watson. In 2007, his song “Gameshow Rag/Cannonball Rag” won “Instrumental of the Year” at the 35th Tamworth Country Music Festival. A two-time Grammy nominee, Tommy was recongized in the May 2008 and 2010 issues of Guitar Player Magazine as “Best Acoustic Guitarist” in their readers’ poll. In June 2010, Emmanuel was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia.

Tickets for both of these seated shows will go on sale this Friday, December 14th at 10AM. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall and St. Augustine Amphitheatre box offices, findmytix.com, and all Ticketmaster outlets.

There Are Superheroes Among Us

There Are Superheroes Among Us by Amy Lignor   This story truly proves that a superhero does not require a cape, tights, or the ability to fly. In a world where all headlines seem to be centered around who shot who, who is being put upon, who’s “getting away with it” – all the way to who is getting divorced and who may or may not be kneeling at NFL games – negative stories seem to be the only ones covered anymore by the media. … [Read More its Good for You...]
