NFL Draft: The Good, Bad & Seriously Ugly

NFL Draft: The Good, Bad & Seriously Ugly

 ~Amy Lignor

Well…we’ve got some winners and losers, to say the least. And we have some serious ‘buzz’ when it comes to a couple of ‘Huh?’ moments that have occurred.

nfl-draftWe begin with the San Francisco 49ers, and the fact that Harbaugh (some say the best and most loved coach in the NFL) may have made an error during the draft. Some say, however, it will be a massive success. Whichever one it happens to be, one thing remains the same; the 49ers are always the team that no expert can rely on to do the expected.

We are talking a wealth of draft picks for the 49ers organization when all this first began, but the team actually decided to use not one, but the whole enchilada to bring on safety, Eric Reid (No. 18 overall pick). Because of this move, the Cowboys came in to pick up the No. 31 overall pick, Travis Frederick, and the No. 74 overall pick. When you read on, you will know why the Cowboys certainly needed this. But…this may not be the biggest surprise when the season starts up and the games begin.

What may be either the best idea or the worst idea will most likely end up to be the 49ers acquisition of Jonathan Martin. This name may seem familiar to a great many of you; Martin was the offensive tackle of the Miami Dolphins who brought to light some seriously bad, ugly words that happened in the Dolphins ‘realm’ last year. This was the bullying case that reached out across America, with a Miami Dolphins’ teammate being accused of many things, but most especially the horrible use of his rotten mouth.

The trade of Martin to the San Francisco 49ers does have some intelligence behind it. After all, Martin was actually coached in college by Jim Harbaugh, so he will definitely feel more relaxed and want to work much harder for his new team and old coach.

The Dolphins announced Martin’s NFL move on the very first day of NFL free agency. The 49ers confirmed the information, and said that they would send an “undisclosed draft choice” to Miami, and Martin would need to pass a physical to complete the deal. And if Martin ends up on the 49ers opening 53-player roster, it has been stated that Miami will receive a conditional seventh-round pick when 2015 rolls around.

The bullying business is certainly something that the Dolphins do not want to discuss anymore. The bullying charges made them look more than idiotic, and the accused became the most hated man in the NFL. Of course, for some, a certain Seattle Seahawk with his rotten mouth took the crown before the season came to a close.

With Martin heading back to the locale he is more than familiar with, he seems extremely grateful for the chance to get on the field and prove this was a good idea. Jonathan seems almost exuberant to become a 49er. Who knows? It is not exactly a large stretch to say that the man who had the worst season last year on a personal level, may just end up to be on the winning Super Bowl team this time up.

What IS a complete and utter error, who no debate whatsoever, comes from the Lone Star State. DeMarcus Ware is going to be a part of Jerry Jones’s nightmares for a good, long time. You see, Ware is now a Denver Bronco, and only because the Cowboys screwed up in a massive way they can not take back.

The salary cap money in the Dallas Cowboy’s world is beyond messed up, and because of this, the Cowboys said goodbye to a future inductee into the Hall of Fame, allowing Denver to own even MORE amazing players so they can prove to one and all that this past Super Bowl was nothing but…well, a nightmare.

September seems like a long, long time to wait, but we have no choice. America’s favorite sport will return and we will definitely see what choices were good, bad, and seriously ugly.

Chips DVD Review by Kam Williams Raunchy Adaptation of Classic TV Series Arrives on Home Video Whenever a classic television series is made into a movie, the buzz always seems to be about whether the screen version will be a creative variation on the theme or merely a campy, cornball, take-the-money-and-run ripoff trading in familiar formulas and shopworn cliches.
