Marla Mase Time For The Ultimate Definition!

Marla Mase

Time For The Ultimate Definition!

We have now come to the six-month anniversary!  This writer has been sharing information on the “Goddess” for the last half a year, and it is time to take a look back at how far this incredible woman has come.  With all the amazing things that have been going on with the extremely talented, Marla Mase, and how her scope has been broadening left and right because of the much-deserved accolades she is finally receiving – I wanted to take a moment to look at what actually defines this woman.

When I first introduced Marla Mase to all of you, I was introducing her to myself, as well.  The very first words I used to bring Marla Mase into our “world” was a definition and a story regarding the Hindu goddess that goes by the name of Kali.  I explained how this ancient idol still appears in everyday life, and how Kali is still regarded as the ambassador of eternal energy, as well as being the icon that embraces time and change.  In her most well-known form, Kali has four arms that each represent a different ‘role’ she plays in life.  This was how I saw Marla Mase because she was – and is – not only a Mom and a successful businesswoman with her own career in the world of party event planning, but she is also a singer, songwriter, author of plays, poetess, and, well, just about everything else you can think of.  It got to the point that if Marla Mase said she was going to medical and law school at the same time, I would absolutely believe it.  She is that intelligent.

We all then had the great luck to get to know Marla Mase personally, as she found time in her schedule –  which must have been impossible – to sit down and have an interview with all of us.  We learned that this incredible woman grew up in a family of four in Canarsie, Brooklyn.  She was the baby, and lived in a very stable, normal home.  “Dad worked, Mom stayed home, and my brother and I did our ‘kid’ thing – you know, played sports, hung out with friends, took lessons (he played guitar and I played piano), went to school, etc.,” Marla said.

We went back to Canarsie with Marla Mase, as she told us a bit about her surroundings.  “At that time (Canarsie) was pretty much comprised of Jewish and Italian people.  That was it.  A person of color could potentially encounter a very hard time if he walked down the wrong street in those days in Canarsie.  Most people were fine, but there were those ‘tough’ guys…”.

Letting us in further, Marla Mase talked to us about her beginning:  “When I was a teenager I was a “disco girl” – meaning I went out to teen discos, roller-palaces (roller skating discos), and then by the time I was fourteen/fifteen – I went to ‘eighteen and over’ discos.  I always loved to dance, and still do.”

On we went through her amazing works.  We talked many weeks about A Brief Night Out, and people jumped on board across the globe because they had literally NEVER heard something so fantastic, seductive, magical, entertaining (insert any favorite positive adjective here) as what Marla Mase brought to the stage.  We spoke about her acting ability; the way she could get up on a stage and talk, sing, “draw” the audience into a world they not only never imagined, but never ever forgot.

We talked about her new CD – SPEAK – which has just been released to the world and…well…what’s there to say about perfection, besides the fact that it’s perfect?  Marla’s new CD, SPEAK, has become its very own entity.  Marla Mase, yet again, proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that you can NOT compare her to a singer, a songwriter, or any other individual walking the earth at this time – she is her own Goddess.  The Goddess will be touring Florida in the very near future.

Recently, we have spoken about concerts, events – amazing places where Marla Mase has taken a stage and wowed the crowd.  Time and time again, Marla Mase has had the ability to so completely monopolize and intrigue an audience that they become almost confused.  All at once they want to scream the second she steps on that stage and opens her mouth to release not only music or tracks, but a story that no one will ever forget.  But, at the same time, the audience finds themselves wanting to keep completely quiet so that they don’t miss a single breath, or note that Marla Mase utters.  This is the anomaly.  This is a woman who has been unexplainable.  And no matter how open and uninhibited and giving Marla Mase is, I don’t believe the definition of this being is an easy one.  The only words this writer can come up with to hit the nail as close to its head as possible, was found in Webster’s Dictionary.

Class:  the best of its kind.

That’s the one.  That’s the word that also fits Marla Mase to a tee.  She is unassuming and purely honest.  She hides nothing when she is behind that microphone, and has the ability and charm to “gift” her fans with everything that she holds within her soul.  That is honest.  That is perfection.  And that, dear people, is pure and utter class.

This woman IS the best of her kind.  The only unfortunate part for the world, however, is that her kind doesn’t seem to exist very much in our society.  Honest, giving, smart, beyond talented, and someone who has something important to say but listens to others at the same time.  Nonjudgmental and vocal – never standing down, but bringing the world to their feet and teaching each and every one of us that we can SPEAK, as well.  All that equals class.

Yes, the charitable woman exists too.  Recently, we told you about Harmony For Hunger, and the fact that Marla Mase is volunteering her time, talent, and stunning energy to help this organization.

And THIS bears repeating.  Because this event is TOMORROW – and anyone who is not in NYC tomorrow, August 23rd, at “The Bitter End” (147 Bleecker Street, between Thompson and LaGuardia), will find themselves completely upset and overly jealous.  Because at The Bitter End – New York City’s Oldest Rock Club – from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. – an event will be presented titled, Satisfy Hunger.

1.2 million people will visit NYC food shelters this year, and the goal of Harmony for Hunger is to help fill this need.  An all-day yogathon (a combination of music and yoga) is happening at various NYC yoga locations on August 23rd, with fun events occurring all over the City that day at Sonic Yoga, Sankalpah Yoga, Giving Tree, Will Duprey Yoga, and more!  But tomorrow night, at The Bitter End, the concert of all concerts will begin at 7:00 p.m., with performers that will include Kylie Edmond, Cassandra Kubinski, and, the best of the best Marla Mase!

Harmony for Hunger wants to raise at least $1000 and 100 lbs of food to feed NYC’s hungry thru City HarvestCity Harvest is the organization where YOUR donations will go, and has served New York City for more than twenty-five years.  This is the City’s first food rescue organization, dedicated to feeding the City’s hungry men, women, and children.  Music satisfies a certain “hunger” for many people, so combining these incredible volunteers with the stunning Marla Mase is like a recipe for celebration and accomplishment. This is an incredible opportunity to start “healing” all the things that are broken in this world, by showing everyone that the one thing that needs no repair is the fact that we love one another – we stand behind one another – and we are a huge support network made up of friends, family, and singers/songwriters like Marla Mase who wish to work with her colleagues in order to better the world.

In the end, I wanted to make sure that this retrospective was put together for Marla Mase, simply because of the time we’ve had together and the sparkling future that is to come.  SPEAK is the best CD on the planet at this moment, and the world is becoming more and more aware of this incredible woman who is rising to the top of everyone’s game!

I, for one, am honored to know someone who is, most definitely, the “best of her kind!”

The Day After the Day Of

The Day After the Day Of by Paul Ilechko   The sky sheds its tears. This morning is the morning of the day after. The day of mourning, the day after the day of.  I beseech the sky to shed tears in order to wash away the tears on my face.   This is the first day of the time after. This is the beginning of a new time, the days of pain, the days of sorrow. We are in mourning. The sky looks down and sheds its tears for … [Read More its Good For You...]

History Being Sold to the Highest Bidder

History Being Sold to the Highest Bidder by Amy Lignor   For the longest time, scientists and archaeologists have been confused and bemused by various discoveries they’ve unearthed that offer little or no explanation as to the who, what, and why of the people who created these things or left them behind. Even now, in 2017, there are discoveries being studied; stories that were once legends now have actual bits of proof being found that … [Read More its Good for You.....]

Carolina Skiff at Miami’s Favorite Boat Show

Carolina Skiff at Miami's Favorite Boat Show By Craig Lamb You might say “new” is a reoccurring theme of Miami’s favorite boat show coming up soon. A new location with hundreds of new boats, including never-before-seen models being debuted by Carolina Skiff, is a great way to kick off the season. Few boat shows offer buyers the chance to see new boats where they ultimately belong—floating on the water in a real time setting. You can … [Read More its Good for You...]

Can Troy Aikman Win MVP?

Can Troy Aikman Win MVP? by Amy Lignor   What a strange title for an article, aye? Of course the ‘old man’ of the Dallas Cowboys can’t win MVP. Troy Aikman was an elite QB, with three Super Bowl rings to prove that fact. However, Aikman hasn’t actually suited-up since leaving behind his Cowboys uniform in 2001. The number one overall draft pick in 1989, Aikman was the MVP of Super Bowl XXVII, and was elected to the Pro Football … [Read More its Good for You...]

Some people have already stated that they see 2017 becoming one of the ‘best of the best’ years the world has ever seen – from technology to business to education to even “going greener” – heck, green has even been chosen as the top color of 2017. 2017 Will Be Green!

2017 Will Be Green! by Amy Lignor   This statement is not a “hopeful” imagination talking; it is actually quite true. Very recently the Pantone Color Institute declared that green will most definitely be THE color for 2017. This is a company that calls themselves the “global color authority,” and states that everything from high fashion to trends will be on the green path throughout next year. So…when we look at a “green” … [Read More its Good for You...]
