Management of Slurry or Silica Dust

As most people working in almost any industrial realm already knows, being environmentally sound, finding sustainable solutions for issues that degrade or pollute our environment, and basically producing organic, earth-friendly products are goals that businesses are striving to meet.

When it comes to the concrete/grinding and polishing industry, a very large environmental issue arises that a company called Gelmaxxhas worked extremely hard to find solutions for, and that is the management of ‘slurry’ or ‘silica dust.’

The very definition of ‘slurry’ is a thin mud or cement that has become one of the largest regulatory compliance issues the concrete industry faces. Slurry waste water is not only incredibly messy but is also extremely difficult to remove; not to mention, the EPA has very high concerns and standards when it comes to the disposal of slurry wastewater. This is where Gelmaxx comes in…

Gelmaxxhas most assuredly earned their ‘expert’ title when it comes to advanced technology, chemistry and the ability to meet environmental challenges head-on by developing products that work.

Being overseen by local and government agencies, as well as strict EPA guidelines, the management of slurry wastewater disposal is not only complicated, but also labor intensive and very costly – things that no business can afford in this fluctuating economy.

It is a known fact that the Grinding and Polishing industry will continue to expand at a rapid pace, seeing as that it is soon to become the leader in the treatment of ‘decorative concrete’ flooring. But profitability can go directly out the window when it comes to dealing with these regulations and the money that must be put toward labor.

With Gelmaxxx, each and every issue was solved when an expert in the industry designed individual products that would aid the contractor during every facet of the exhaustive ‘clean-up’ phase. Utilized by the industries of concrete polishing, coring and cutting, saw drilling and concrete pumpers, this unique formula uses only organic materials, which makes it not only safe for the environment but also meets all of the EPA compliance needs.

A proprietary blend with special additives that were designed to process cement-based slurry into reusable water and recyclable solids, Gelmaxx provides a two-part approach that offers maximum results and 100% recyclable solutions to the industry’s most difficult issues.

And there’s more, such as Eco-Quick Gel, which is a Slurry Solidifying Solution that can absorb liquid solids into a safe material which can be disposed of immediately. Twenty grams per gallon of treated material will create a gel-like substance within minutes that is safe to dispose of in any standard waste container. And seeing as that Eco-Quick meets the EPA Method 9095B paint filler test, the EPA regulations for proper disposal methods are taken care of.

Another product is Aqua-maxx, falling under the category of a Slurry Water Separating Solution, which is a proprietary blend with special additives that separates suspended solids from processed slurry water in seconds. This extremely reliable and powerful material reduces the amount of slurry waste by removing usable water. This water can then either be treated for PH balance and then disposed of correctly, or recycled back into the job site machinery.

The best part is that the entire line of Gelmaxx products is extremely easy-to-use, time-efficient and saves money on labor and disposal roll-offs, requiring no ‘special machinery’ in order to do the job right!

Gelmaxxhas also been entered into the ‘Most Innovative Product’ competition at the “2013 World of Concrete.” Being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, February 5th through the 8th, the ‘World of Concrete’ represents the industry’s only annual international event dedicated to the commercial concrete and masonry construction industries. Here, they showcase leading industry suppliers that feature innovative products, construction machinery and equipment, provide safety training courses, introduce the latest technologies and offer unlimited networking opportunities in order for all business to grow their profits. It comes as no surprise that Gelmaxxwill be a featured product at the WOC, considering it is beyond innovative, created by visionaries who knew what the problems were that the industry faced and found a solution that works!

With outdoor exhibit areas, including the hugely popular Masonry Construction’s Challenge Competitions, Artistry in Decorative Conferences and The Concrete Producer’s Challenge Competitions, Gelmaxx will be a super-exciting addition to this spectacular event.

In addition to all this, a brand new website will be launched for Gelmaxx on February 1, 2013, which will – quite literally – solidify the fact that the world of concrete, decorative flooring, grinding and polishing, and more – will finally have ‘A-Number-One’ products at their disposal!
