Loving Healing Press Going to Beijing International Book Fair

The Loving Healing Press of Ann Arbor, MI, is pleased to announce its participation in the 20th Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF)Beyond Psychology via contributing copies of select titles to the event.

The 20th Beijing International Book Fair is scheduled for August 28 to September 1, 2013, and will be held at the China International Exhibition Center (New Venue) in Beijing.

Copies of the following Loving Healing Press titles will be displayed at the fair:

  • The Mind-Body Problem Explained: The Biocognitive Model for Psychiatry (2012) by Niall McLaren
  • Beyond Psychology: An Introduction to Metapsychology (2013) by Frank A. Gerbode
  • Crisis Intervention Training for Disaster Workers: An Introduction (2007) by George W. Doherty
  •  How to UnBreak Your Health: Your Map to the World of Complementary and Alternative Therapies, 2nd Edition (2010) by Alan E. Smith
  •  Mountain Air: Relapsing and Finding the Way Back… One Breath at a Time (2013) by  Holli Kenley

These books will be presented at the BIBF via the book shelves owned by Inbooker, a platform which provides books copyrights transacting service for publishers and authors. Suture Deng and his representatives will be personally representing English language books to the hundreds of publishers who will be stopping by their booth at the BIBF.

“It has been said that China is a ‘sleeping dragon’ who is awakening to a thirst for knowledge both scientific and cultural,” says Victor Volkman, publisher at the Loving Healing Press. “Inbooker advised us to provide books on health and psychology and we’re extremely excited about our selection of titles from Dr. Niall McLaren’s controversial new biocognitive model to George Doherty’s essential textbook to mentally prepare disaster workers who are on the frontlines of manmade and natural disasters in the developing world. We feel that the Chinese culture is poised to take advantage of the best of Western science and medicine.”

According to Volkman, this is their second international book fair, and they like to work with foreign rights agents who are aggressive about promoting their titles to their publishing customers in Asia and Europe. Most recently, Lynda Bevan’s How to Forgive: A Practical Guide was published by Gruppo Armenia Italia in the Italian language. In South Korea, Richard A. Singer’s Your Daily Walk With The Great Minds was also sold for translation to local markets and continues to get inquiries throughout Asia.

“I completely trust Suture Deng and the Inbooker team to gather new business opportunities that bring our two great cultures together,” says Volkman.

Charity Begins at Home

Charity Begins at Home by Amy Lignor   Turning a blind eye is easy for some; preferred by others. But the fact is that the bad doesn’t become good – in any area – unless eyes are open wide to not only see what’s occurring, but also to gain the knowledge needed to stop the bad from getting even worse. Remarks are made about “other countries” and what they do wrong when it comes to the harming of animals for profit. However, in … [Read More its Good for You...]
