Keyboard-in-Mouth – Don’t Let it Strike!

Keyboard-in-Mouth – Don’t Let it Strike!

Here is the medical issue: “Foot-and-mouth disease is an infectious, sometimes fatal viral disease that affects cloven-hoofed animals. The virus causes a high fever, followed by blisters inside the mouth and on the feet that may rupture and cause lameness.”

NOW – take ‘foot’ out and insert ‘keyboard,’ and you have a serious disease – again, viral – that could not only cause your company to become lame in the eyes of potential clients, but can also absolutely destroy your success.

Everyone knows in this day and age of constant social media marketing, and the ability we all have to open our mouths and make big mistakes – that just one mistake can bring about destruction if ‘sent out’ over the World Wide Web. Although fame like this can help a celebrity’s career, a business is not so lucky.

No matter what size a company is in 2013, they must utilize social media platforms in order to bring their brand to the forefront of consumers’ minds. Not only do they need to be great businesspeople and offer products and/or services that are far and away better than their competition – but they also have to learn to be firefighters and politicians in order to control what marketing goes out and how it sounds to the public.

What you say and how you say it is the most important part of a social media marketing strategy. Now this isn’t about what slogan you want to have. “Nike…Just Do It!” This is not going to offend, it is a marketing slogan that supposedly is cool and brings in the clients. However, when you have a blog, or a video about your company; when you host events, speak at engagements, send out news and updates over your website 24/7, etc. – your best words have to be forward and nothing bad can be stated. Because, let’s face it, once you hit ‘submit,’ you can’t get back the mistake you made.

There have been true social media disasters for companies over the years. And the main reason for these was because they did not take the time to plan. Instead of hiring a ‘killer’ Social Media Team (like Be First Media Group and Simplify360), they were in too big of a hurry and paid big for that mistake.

Even though it is called the public arena, it is far more like a bullfighting ring when your positive goes negative. You need to be able to have someone monitoring your information 24/7 so that even if something were to go awry, they can put out the blaze before you see your customers run away in a cloud of smoke. Some mega-corporations invest millions of dollars on their social media advertising. And, although your company may certainly not be in that higher echelon that has that much in the company vault, there is still a team that can help.

What many do not realize is that being silent is just as negative as posting a true screw-up. Because if your site is not updated, maintained and promoted continuously, people simply lose interest. Your activity is nil, therefore your client’s activity is nil. They want to find something new. They want intelligent and humorous inventions, innovations and research that they need to know in order to continue on with your company. And if they’re happy, they create massive ‘buzz’ that brings their friends and followers through your doors.

Social media marketing is an integral part of what you do, so not taking the time to do it well is a sword through the heart of your profits. Generating relationships is one thing, but building them and then maintaining them is something else.

Your online image is a must, so the creation of that image has to be looked over from the start. How do you build an online image? Well…first you have to know the ins-and-outs of social media, which you won’t have time to learn. Which means, the Be First_logo_FINALteam you hire will know the difference between Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+ and Tumblr. They will know what sectors of the population you need to reach, and they will absolutely know the hottest and latest trends that you and your company has to be a part of.

Remember, one sound bite (and, no, not byte) can come back and destroy – just ask those politicians out there who are not sitting in the chair they assumed they’d be sitting in right now. And when the press, users, followers, friends and the entire social media world replays that sound bite for everyone else to hear or read, the waters of profit quickly turn into shark-infested waters.

Avoid the keyboard-in-mouth disease by hiring the ultimate Social Media Team today.

The Day After the Day Of

History Being Sold to the Highest Bidder

History Being Sold to the Highest Bidder by Amy Lignor   For the longest time, scientists and archaeologists have been confused and bemused by various discoveries they’ve unearthed that offer little or no explanation as to the who, what, and why of the people who created these things or left them behind. Trump and Traditions of the Founders

Trump and Traditions of the Founders By Ezrah Aharone Maybe I should watch more CNN or MSNBC to be convinced since most Black people seemingly regard Donald Trump as some sort of abrupt political mutation who violates America’s traditions. What I see in Trump is “America’s traditional reflection in the mirror.” I see the exact same hardline and hostile government that the founders deliberately engineered with deep political and racial … [Read More its Good for You...]

Super Bowl LI’s Message: Patriotism

Super Bowl LI’s Message: Patriotism by Amy Lignor   There are some people waking up this morning completely stunned. Why? Because they shut the Super Bowl off after the third quarter. They knew what was “going to happen” and had to go to work today, so why bother staying up and watching the rest of what was going to be an obvious blow-out? Besides, they had been given some memorable commercials, a great country western singer ushering … [Read More its Good for You...]
