International Observe the Moon Night is October 12th, 2013
The Bartram Trail Branch Library is partnering with the Northeast Florida Astronomical Society to present an evening of viewing the moon and learning about astronomy. International Observe the Moon Night is Saturday, October 12th and NEFAS will be at the library from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. with their telescopes. NEFAS donated a telescope to the Bartram Trail Branch that can be checked out, just like a book or movie. Through grants awarded by the Universities Space Research Association Lunar and Planetary Institute, the Bartram Trail Branch Library and the Bookmobile-Extension Services Department of the SJCPLS also have binocular kits available for loan. The event is planned and intended for families, but we are particularly encouraging teens to participate as part of Teen Read Week 2013’s theme “Seek the Unknown @ Your Library.” (Teen Read Week is October 13-19). Groups, who plan on attending, are required to preregister, please call Carla or Melissa at the library at 827-6960.
