Happiness =’s Success
Happy people typically have a pretty good sense of humor. And another thing, they are like magnets, because others like and want to be around them. They are not waiting to be happy after they get that raise, that next sale, that new house, that new boat, loose those 5 pounds. In fact they somehow know that that old theory is broken and indeed the way it really works is that happiness begets success, not the other way around. Shawn Achor, author of The Happiness Advantage: The Seven Principles of Positive Psychology That Fuel Success and Performance at Work, documents this. Ask any successful person and they will tell you a positive attitude, a view of the cup ½ full rather than ½ empty, an “I can do it attitude” is not only a huge advantage in business, it is essential. Success and achievement are dependent on this attitude. Stay away from those “nay-sayers”, hold on to the dreams, set your goals and a plan to achieve them. Take the long view, taking steps everyday toward what you really want. Along the way, find things that make you feel happy. Maybe it is cleaning a closet, or listening to your favorite music, a walk with the dog or whipping up a batch of your signature cookies. It is a very individual thing; just find what works for you and be sure to “enjoy” these happiness moments. After all happiness and laughter are good medicine and highly attractive!
