“Officials in Broward County, Fla., say they are offering tourists $25 gas cards if they book at least two nights in certain local hotels.”
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau has the right idea, but a $25 gas card isn`t enough to entice tourists to come to the Sunshine State. With the price of gas getting higher every day, a free $50 gas card would make more sense. Tourists must book their stay during the summer when the price of gas is expected to be over $4 a gallon.
Everybody loves free goodies, why stop at free gas cards? Instead of leaving a mint on your pillow, the maid should leave a small box of Godiva chocolates. If a guest books at least four nights in a hotel, he should be entitled to a free massage.
Actually it wouldn`t take much to entice me to visit Florida; I`ve always had a terrific time when I visited the Sunshine State. Just give me a free gas card, and I`m there, you don`t need to lavish tourists with goodies to visit paradise. But if New Jersey wants to encourage visitors, they`d better offer then a killer of a swag bag.
