Franchise Outlook for 2012 Canine Dimensions & The Pet Industry

It is certainly not a big surprise that the impact of the     recession on consumer spending and attitudes continued to dominate economics in 2011, but there is one sector that seems to be not only dominating the franchise market, but that is also seen as recession proof – and that is pet-related spending.  Whether it be the care and upkeep of pets, or the pet toy market, or pet training services, 2010 and 2011 certainly tested the theory that the ‘world of pets’ is a market that cannot ‘fall off.’  And the result that industry and financial leaders certainly found, is that the pet category is highly recession resistant, with pet-related sales growing from 2009 through 2011. Let’s face it, there aren’t too many categories that can say that in this difficult economic environment!

 

The overall trend continues to be value for money, which doesn’t necessarily mean spending less, but less frivolously.
