With more and more ‘baby boomers’ choosing to stay at home throughout their senior years, there is a far greater need to have home health aides available, so that they can have live out their lives the way they want to.  These are strong human beings, to say the least.  This demographic – being born during the post WWII era – have shown throughout the decades that they come from the strong, courageous, and ‘never give up’ mentality that their generation provided.

The National Employment Report that was recently released, actually showed private employers have added over two hundred thousand jobs in just the month of November.  This and other reports have also commented on studies that the jobless rate should continue to drop to below nine percent by the end of 2012.

This is truly hopeful news for college students who will soon graduate and approach their futures.  The National Association of Colleges and Employers’ Job Outlook, 2012 survey, also gives them more hopeful material by showing that employers plan to hire almost ten percent more graduates from the Class of 2012 than they hired from 2011.

 

There are some very specific industries that are going to see monumental growth, per various reports.  From biomedical engineers to computer software engineers to customer service representatives, looking for graduates who are fluent in multiple languages, there are industries that are just waiting for the Class of 2012 to be ready to go!  What is the largest industry expecting the most growth?  The medical and health care industry.  From medical assistants to registered nurses for hospitals as well as doctor’s private offices, the medical industry needs more people!  And in the lead are home health aides that will provide in-home care; a service that will continue to be important as the elderly population, with those ‘baby boomers,’ continues to grow. According to the Department of Health and Human Services, the number of Americans sixty-five and older is projected to be almost ninety million by 2050, more than double its estimated 2010 population.
This particular industry is not only ripe for rapid growth, it’s also maturing and evolving in new directions that cater to a changing generation of seniors.  These are people who are adamant about living in their own homes and on their own terms, but that comes at a price.  They will need assistants and home health aides in order to live their lives the way they want to – and First Step HomeCare is THE company they want to turn to.
