Finally! A Publishing Company that CARES about the Author.

Finally! A Publishing Company that CARES about the Author.

Introducing…Precious Gems Publishing

As a writer, it has been monumentally disappointing to watch the “big houses” or “traditional publishers” – or, whatever you would like to call them – constantly turn down extraordinary books.  Now, I know this has to do with the harsh economy, and the fear everyone has to ‘go out on a limb’ with a debut novelist.  BUT, the digital world has clearly shown that there are fantastic literary gems just sitting out there waiting to be discovered, and traditional houses are just too used to throwing submissions into their ‘slush pile,’ or sending out that well-known form letter saying, “Gee, thanks, but we’re just not interested.”

It would feel a heck of a lot better for authors who have worked and slaved to create a novel that is filled with humor or drama, comedy or romance, history or inspiration, to at least have the opportunity to be heard.  Example:  I received a letter from an agent once that read:  “We really loved your character, Emily, but she just needed to be more powerful.”  A)  My character was named Leah and, B) just to prove my point that publishers and agents don’t actually read the copy that is sent to them, I resent the information a week later only to receive a note back that read:  “We really loved your character, Anna, but she was just way too overpowering.”  I know…the depression that you feel as an author turns to anger pretty quickly when you get something like that.  And, yes, these letters were from a “very big” house.

Those gems out there – those nuggets of literary gold that are climbing up the lists of Kindle – are proving to the traditional publishing world that there are writers who readers absolutely LOVE!  Readers are screaming out that they don’t WANT anymore drama; they want the fun, adventure, entertainment, thrills, and chills they used to receive.  They are tired of books about war, child killers and, god forbid, the government and this wretched economy.  Reading used to be entertaining.  But with the exception of the YA industry with its bevy of vampires and werewolves, entertaining books can barely be found anymore.

Enter…Precious Gems Publishing.  Self-publishing is a bit frightening for authors.  There are so many out there to choose from with so many “gimmicks” and “sales pitches” that writers are completely non-trusting of all of them.  There are sites that state:  YOU keep all your rights to your novel – like this is some kind of ‘gift.’  Well, it’s not.  You SHOULD keep all the rights to your novel.  There are a ton that say, 100% free!  Nope.  There is always the fine print.  Nothing is 100% free.  If you continue to read through the site, you find that you have to buy a certain number of copies – so free goes out the window.  There are a few companies that do solid work, but most slap a cover on YOUR creation, upload it, and walk away – never speaking to the author again.  They don’t even offer professional editors who an author can actually SPEAK to live and in person.  Most everything is done by email, so the author has absolutely no clue who is touching the product that they worked on for such a long, long time.

An author is passionate about their creation.  A true author feels as if their book is their child, and should be treated with respect.  Yes!  THAT you are right about, people.  And, not only should the book be treated with respect, but there should also be that human being – that support team – who has a background in editing that shows the AUTHOR respect!  This is YOUR book and should look 100% fantastic when it hit’s the marketplace.

Precious Gems Publishing came from the simple fact that good books are disappearing, and self-publishers have “hidden” costs.   Precious Gems Publishing KNOWS that books are the backbone of our culture, and they are here to celebrate those “idea engineers” who desperately need to be heard!  Precious Gems Publishing realizes that most major NYC ‘houses’ have looked at the harsh economy and ‘pulled back’ from taking the chance on a new author.  But because of this, unique books are falling through the cracks, and Precious Gems Publishing is the perfect place for them to land!

But the absolute best part of this whole company?  Not only does the author receive a real editor, a real graphic artist for their cover, but they also receive a huge marketing department at their disposal.  There should be NO extra costs for ‘book doctors,’ or publicity – an author should not simply have a publisher who prints or uploads a book and then washes their hands of the whole thing.  Publicity – in this world that runs on social media – is the key to selling a novel.  Precious Gems Publishing has a marketing department and wealth of advertising tools that offer over 600,000 Twitter followers; a radio show; their own news services (thesop.org; newsblaze.com; and baretnews.com), and more!  They have the extraordinary capabilities necessary to ‘brand’ their authors and their works, and transform them into household names.
In this day and age digital publishing has become the “it” industry.  On-demand printing is a path that many writers have taken, but what they don’t count on is having a company behind them who will work tirelessly to promote and market their book.  And the people behind Precious Gems Publishing have a solid reputation of integrity, consistency, and hard work!

Being a writer is a Divine gift, and Precious Gems Publishing wants to be a part of YOUR literary masterpiece.  Not only will they give you an outstanding ‘end product,’ but the marketing and advertising venues that Precious Gems offers as part of their publishing package, is unheard of in the industry!

Precious Gems Publishing is accepting ALL genres of fiction!  They’re leaving no one out as they search for the next literary ‘star.’  All a writer has to do is head to www.preciousgemspublishing.com and submit a letter to amy@preciousgemspublishing.com that offers the genre, word count, title, brief summary, and first five pages of your novel.  In less than one week – not six – a real, live editor from Precious Gems Publishing responds to the author.  If the manuscript is accepted, the process begins, and DOES NOT end.  The marketing and promotional aspects are huge, and included in a set price of $899.00.  I know, I almost fell off my chair.  Publicity companies, alone, offer packages for authors that begin at $5,000.  And that’s just the publicity and promotion.  We’re not even talking about the price an author has to pay for buying copies of their book, paying for reviews, trying to pay for a management team that will land them interviews, radio events, etc.  No.  Precious Gems Publishing because of the resources that are already at their disposal – don’t charge ANYTHING for publicity or promotion.  And your name goes out to hundreds of thousands of people!

There is one recent story that I was told about a fantastic author who could NOT get a traditional house to publish her, nor could she land an agent.  This woman is now – through digital publishing – the #1 pick!  And, guess what?  Those traditional houses are coming out of the woodwork for this woman now – knowing that they made a mistake by ignoring her in the first place.

The website is in the process of going up for this amazing new company; and when the site is completed, they will feature reviews and interviews with not only industry professionals, but also the authors who everyone loves.  There will be blogs of humor and fun, as well as industry news, and help for the debut novelist.  Publishing just doesn’t get better than what Precious Gems Publishing is about to provide!

I can not begin to tell all of you how absolutely amazing it is to see a company who so truly believes in their authors, that they ARE willing to go out on that limb and publicize a ‘nobody’ in order to make them the ‘somebody’ they deserve to be in the literary world.  It’s about time!

Go to Precious Gems Publishing.  I know I am!

Until Next Time, Everybody.

There Are Superheroes Among Us

There Are Superheroes Among Us by Amy Lignor   This story truly proves that a superhero does not require a cape, tights, or the ability to fly. In a world where all headlines seem to be centered around who shot who, who is being put upon, who’s “getting away with it” – all the way to who is getting divorced and who may or may not be kneeling at NFL games – negative stories seem to be the only ones covered anymore by the media. … [Read More its Good for You...]
