Looks at the ‘Theory’ Behind Seasonal Employment!

Caramanico Maguire Associates is the company that is all about sales development services.  From Evaluation & Training Services to determining the areas of a company’s sales force which need improvement – Caramanico Maguire Associates provides all businesses a way to secure their financial future by bringing ‘on board’ the optimal salespeople they need to bring in the money.

What Caramanico Maguire Associates also provides is a true ‘helping hand’ to the salespeople out there who literally want to become that optimal salesperson that no company can live without.  Let’s face it, there are a great many people out there who are out of work. They are dedicated, hard-working, and intelligent people who are searching for that company that they can truly become a part of, and bring their wealth of skills to the table.

What Caramanico Maguire Associates provides are programs and services to make that dream into a reality by teaching a truly empowering mindset in order for you to jump all the hidden obstacles that you have placed in front of you that stops you from becoming that ‘perfect prospect.’

Let’s use the theory of Occam‘s Razor:  With all things being equal, the simplest answer is the right one.  In other words, to BE that perfect salesperson, you have to BELIEVE that you are.  Take a look at the world of ‘seasonal hiring.’  This is something that mostly occurs this time of year in the retail world – hiring extra employees for a short time in order to take care of the extra work and the extra stress that comes along with the holidays.

A recent survey found that twenty-nine percent of retailers will hire extra help around this holiday season.  Among hospitality companies, ten percent will add seasonal staff.  But the most amazing thing to see, understand and learn is that from these seasonal helpers come actual full-time employees.  It is actually a fantastic way for many to secure permanent employment.  And how does their job go from holiday to a full-time job with benefits?  Well, the easiest way.  They bring with them dedication, loyalty, dependability and an amazing work ethic which allows them to remain with the company.  More than half of the companies that hire seasonal employees transition some into permanent staff members.

This is where the phrase, self-limiting beliefs, comes into play.  There are many seasonal employees that are younger in age, some are even going out and getting their very first job, but what they do not have holding them back is a past that involves a rough place of employment, or mistakes and errors they once made on the job.  Nothing is there to adversely affect them; therefore, they are still able to put out premium work without worrying about what could go wrong.

A perfect salesperson who knows the ‘business’ backwards and forwards can sometimes find themselves stumbling over their self-limiting beliefs.  For some reason – whether it be the past or the troublesome dealings with the current rough economy – some truly amazing salespeople find themselves in a rut; a depression that can weigh them down and give them a very negative outlook.  This can occur when someone has simply lost their passion and drive, and begin to ‘take to heart’ all of the negativity in the world that states businesses are going down financially and that nothing is going to work.  Here, again, lies the belief factor.  You can not be an optimal salesperson if you do not believe you are.

Huge companies have been interviewed regarding their hiring of seasonal employees and what they look for that can turn them from temporary to permanent workers.  And this is advice, by the way, that works for everyone no matter what business they happen to be in.

Just recently a spokesman for Macy’s, said the company seeks seasonal workers who “bloom where they’re planted,” which basically means they excel no matter what project they are assigned.  They do not have those self-limiting beliefs stopping them from moving forward and bringing their absolute best to the jobsite. This one retail giant plans to hire over 78,000 seasonal employees for 2011.  They are truly looking at keeping the seasonal workers who do things like ask in-depth and thoughtful questions about the organization, showing they have the interest needed in order to become a permanent part of the ‘team.’  They also ask for more – more time, more projects – proving to management that they WANT to be a part of that team and will not be lazy or ‘lay down on the job.’  When they receive those extra projects, they go all out to make sure they do the absolute best job possible, solidifying the fact that they will stay on long after the Christmas decorations have been taken out of the windows.

You can simply walk down the street today and see the ‘help wanted’ signs in the windows.  Even in this rough-and-tumble economy those signs are still up, and they bring with them the opportunity of full-time employment. There are also a great deal of ‘temporary’ agencies that are seeking additional staff for their clients during the holiday season.  From companies like Kelly Services to Snelling & Snelling, they need workers, and ‘Temping’ is one of the fastest growing employment sectors in the country.

There are a ton of other industries that are hiring workers who begin as seasonal employees and can end up becoming major players in the advertising or marketing departments of the company. From package delivery jobs that can lead to management when it comes to huge companies like FedEx and UPS, to outdoor seasonal jobs that include everything from ski areas, to marketing and advertising for inns and the hospitality industry.

Punctuality, reliability, dependability – these are the most important factors you can bring to a job.  But the belief you have in yourself, and making sure that there are no stumbling blocks that you have put in your own way, are the keys to starting on one level and rising to another quite quickly.

Commitment is one of the characteristics we have spoken about before.  In order to be that optimal salesperson, a ‘golden’ resume isn’t what counts.  In order to ‘get back’ or ‘find’ that strength inside you that was once there before the self-limiting beliefs got in your way, you must simply think about these seasonal workers who are bringing their belief into the workplace.  They are coming in saying, “I can do it!”  And…getting  it done!  They can accomplish anything they set out to do because they are the best.  This ‘simple’ thing is what salespeople have forgotten!

Caramanico Maguire Associates  actually provides a Sales Development Expert that sits down with a candidate for employment and interviews them; they note right away whether the commitment is there or not.  They also can see if those self-limiting beliefs are weighing you down – and they can help drive them away!
Be a Problem Solver. Take the initiative and prove to your prospective boss that you are not only right for the job, you are the person made for the job!

Think about what the seasonal employee does and learn from it.  There you will discover the ‘simple’ solution to landing the job you want!

Until Next Time, Everybody.
