Brookdale’s Culinary Arts Institute Roadshow Hits St. Augustine

Brookdale’s Culinary Arts Institute Roadshow Hits St. Augustine as Part of Nationwide Tour Interactive cooking extravaganza sure to delight audience and taste buds ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.,March 31, 2014 – Prepare to take a bite!

FoodsThe faculty chefs of Brookdale’s Culinary Arts Institute are packing their chef coats, aprons, cutting edge culinary techniques and secret ingredients to tantalize the taste buds of St. Augustine residents this week. The award winning Culinary Arts Institute Roadshow is making its fourth stop in a nationwide tour sharing healthy recipes through an interactive cooking extravaganza. The Culinary Arts Institute Roadshow travels to major markets throughout the United States every month to host a one day event giving insight into programs that keep Brookdale a leader in the culinary industry. The discussions and demonstrations will include topics such as comfort foods, discovery of new flavors, healthy dining for seniors and food service sanitation. For seniors, diet is much more than a source of health and pleasure; flavorful food is an important component of overall life satisfaction, according to Joska Hajdu, Brookdale’s Senior Vice President of Dining Services. “Cooking for senior palates requires special expertise,” said Hajdu “That’s because senior taste buds and palates change with age, so the flavors have to be bolder and richer and the texture of foods need to be more senior friendly as well. That’s one reason why our chefs and our creations are special, with an intensity that surpasses food served in other venues.” Those who attend the event can step into the kitchen of one of Brookdale’s culinary experts and assist on stage during a live cooking segment. Then all can satisfy their cravings with samples of the food cooked right in front of them. The First Coast Technical Institute will host this event on April 3, 2014 from 9:00 until 3:30 p.m. Then the chefs pack up their knives and butcher blocks and hit the road again; next stop, Detroit. The Culinary Arts Institute is a professional development program designed to enhance the food preparation and presentation skills of Brookdale’s professional chefs, who collectively prepare some 60 million meals per year for the company’s residents and their guests. This is the fourth year for the popular nationwide Roadshow. Media contact at the Roadshow is Joska Hajdu, Senior Vice President of Dining Services for Brookdale.
