Better Way Health Talks MOTIVATION!
Motivation is the Key! Oh, yes, everyone will speak about diet plans, fitness programs, and all that you can do in order to look and feel better. But what most doctors do not explain when you step on that scale and feel as if the only way to get out of the disappointment you now feel is by eating twenty cheeseburgers or a bag of candy, is how exactly you find the motivation to look and feel better.
No one – and I mean, NO ONE – needs a psychologist, medical doctor, psychiatrist, or even Oprah, to tell them that they need to find motivation within themselves in order to actually stick to a diet plan or fitness program. In fact, when the New Year’s resolution comes upon us next week and, yet again, over 50% of us resolve to lose weight in 2013, 49.9% of that 50% will have a cheeseburger before January 2, 2013 dawns. Why is this? Because life continues (yes, Mayan theorists, life will continue), and the pressures, tension, stress and everything else will return on January 1st and the ball dropping will be but a memory.
So how is it done? How do you keep the promise to yourself that you will look better and feel better in 2013? Well, you need to find someone – a company, a blog, a friend – who will stand by you and offer you the support and information you need on everything from ‘Top Fitness Trends’ to vitamins that are necessary to increase your strength and stamina and protect your heart from all the ‘bad’ cholesterol that’s roaming around in all your daily foods.
What ‘friend’ am I speaking about? Better Way Health, a company that has been tried and true when it comes to information, honesty, and the creation, promotion and distribution of the best (and necessary) products that will enable you to keep that resolution and live your life in a happier, healthier way.
It is the American College of Sports Medicine’s Health & Fitness that recently released a new survey of fitness trends that will be spoken about a great deal in 2013. And it is body-weight training that includes the ‘back-to-basics’ exercises, like push-ups and pull-ups, that is expected to be THE fitness trend that people turn towards in their time of need.
More and more people are going to drop the ‘latest fads’ in equipment and fitness facilities; they are going to stop the DVD programs of the exercises that basically can kill you heart just as fast as the bad cholesterol can, and go back to what fitness professionals prescribed over a decade ago. In other words, they will head back to ‘simpler’ times in order to feel better again. And for those who disbelieve this theory, it is the career of ‘health and fitness professional’ that is being touted as the top career in 2013. Jobs for fitness workers are expected to rise far faster than other occupations (U.S. Labor Department), and it’s because of the fact that strength training and ‘normal’ fitness programs will be back. The bare minimum of equipment will be used, as the age-old push-ups, pull-ups and squats in the living room return.
From dealing with obesity in the schools to promoting fitness programs for the aging ‘baby boomer’ generation, these are the types of diet and exercise programs that will be utilized. And these are all good and healthy things to bring back into peoples’ lives; they are simplistic programs that will offer an ‘ease’ to working out, and will allow you to keep the resolution you make on December 31, 2012 when the clock strikes midnight. HOWEVER, the subject of motivation is still a concern.
One of the most talked about reasons for not getting fit is how unbelievably hard it seems. It creates an overwhelming amount of stress when thinking about how to lose weight, but if you can get rid of the excuses – if you can find that personal motivation that’s inside of you – you CAN do it! Especially during a time period where the old is now new once again…and it WORKS!
There are all kinds of benefits to getting in shape – reasons that doctor’s will go on and on about. BUT, what is your personal motivation? Live longer so that you can see your children grow up? Once you find that – that small piece of ‘inner’ motivation – it is a fact that you can get up and take a walk after dinner. You can do this with your kid(s) beside you, and you not only feel better by becoming active, but you also show that ‘good role model’ that your children need to see.
And, everyone says this but they never remember this – realistic goals have to be set. Do NOT think that the only way to lose weight is overnight, which means you must kill yourself at a gym for two hours a day. This is SO not true. For the first two weeks, stick to the after-dinner walk. Then, and only then, maybe increase the walk a little bit, like thirty minutes, where you can talk to your kids about their day at school and share some time. If you go into exercise with the thought that you MUST do something, then your motivation will surely collapse.
This is a New Year. This is a brand new resolution. So take the time to do what you ‘love’ to do in order to get fit – from walking your dog to playing with your kids. This IS exercise. And THIS will work!
Make that resolution! Because this time around, you’ll achieve your goal!
