During the past years when the recession was starting to take hold and change the American way of life and the American dream, there were those who worked harder and longer each day to help their fellow citizens, keep their heads above water. One of these individuals was Maryland Trade Ambassador Philip Kapneck who was able to contact and reconnect with business and industry he attracted to the USA over the past 30 years, that created jobs for individuals in Maryland.

Since the recession, Ambassador Kapneck called on the same companies he helped to set up their businesses in past years, and surfing the wave of goodwill, he was able to find jobs for people who lost theirs with other companies. While this was not one of his duties, he felt that it was essential to help those in need of work.

Ambassador Kapneck does not want any notoriety or press coverage about his work, but it seems that the press has a yearning to cover his unselfish work in helping others.

People like Ambassador Kapneck and their hard work are responsible for 2011`s third straight month in creating new employment over the 200,000 mark in the USA.

Through research we were able to supply a list of some positions that Ambassador Kapneck held and some he is still holding as follows:

· Delegate to the Maryland State Convention

· He was appointed by Governor Marvin Mandel to open Maryland`s first overseas office in Brussels, Belgium as the State`s Trade Ambassador. He assisted the Federal Government in “Invest in the USA”.

· He was appointed by Secretary of Business and Economic Development to represent the State of Maryland with international companies in Asia and the South Pacific.

· He was appointed by former New Zealand Prime Minister Rowlings as Special Advisor Ambassador/Maryland Trade Ambassador to assist companies in New Zealand and Australia doing business in the USA.

· He has been appointed by each administration to date, since his first appointment to Belgium over 30 years ago, and is still serving as Maryland Trade Ambassador.

Ambassador Kapneck`s ability to achieve the goals set before him, and always extending a helping hand, when it is possible to do so, has made him an icon in his own time, from his success in attracting business and industry to the creation of jobs.

‘Classy’ Chris Gray is a spiritual warrior both figuratively and literally. A stanch family man, Chris has built a foundation of success on hard work and love for both family and God.

“My Wife is my best friend and when I am not in the ring we do everything together, I guess you could say I am more of a home body these days,” says Gray.

When asked what is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to you, Gray said, “Getting married, I never thought I would ever get married. I love being married and that is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me.”

Gray was also asked who he would like to meet one day and he said, “Christ without a doubt, just the amount of love that he showed for people is amazing.”

Hardworking people that are working for the people try to cut cost anyway that they can to help decrease America`s budget deficit and create jobs for Americans. Trade Ambassador Philip Kapneck has helped to create jobs for more than 30 years and has attracted business and industry to Maryland while working many years, without remuneration.

Ambassador Kapneck was first appointed by Governor Marvin Mandel to open Maryland`s first overseas office in Brussels, Belgium as the State`s Trade Ambassador. Ambassador Kapneck has been appointed by each administration to date since his first appointment to Belgium. He assisted the Federal Government in “Invest in the USA”. Ambassador Kapneck works tirelessly for the people of Maryland, creating jobs by bringing companies to Maryland that are unique and useful, and that need a quality workforce.

Ambassador Kapneck has introduced many companies to Maryland by helping these companies get established in the State of Maryland. Once they are established he continues to assist them in contacting other business operations which in turn makes the new companies a valuable part of the state economy and in turn, this helps to reduce unemployment numbers.

Ambassador Philip Kapneck is the true meaning of the inaugural speech once given by President John F. Kennedy. “Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country.”

A State Official said that Ambassador Kapneck is not looking for publicity or public recognition for his work; he just wants to help people.

Jane Velez-Mitchell (b. September 29, 1955) is an award winning television journalist and author. She currently has her own show on HLN, “Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell.” She is often seen commenting on high-profile cases for CNN, TruTV, E! and other national cable TV shows. Velez-Mitchell is an “out” lesbian, animal protection advocate, vegan, and recovering alcoholic with over 15 years of sobriety.

In her new book “Addict Nation,” TV host Jane Velez-Mitchell explores America`s love affair with prescription drugs, and asks: Is Lindsay Lohan REALLY sober?

The list of celebrities who have overdosed on legal prescription drugs is long and growing fast. Music legend Michael Jackson died after his doctor gave him a head-spinning cocktail of drugs including Valium, Lorazepam, and Midazolam, plus the painkiller Lidocane, topped off with Propofol. Heath Ledger OD`d in his fashionable Manhattan loft on a combination of Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Diazepam, Alprazolam, Temazepam, Vicodin, Xanax , Restoril and Unisom. Anna Nicole Smith`s autopsy revealed Lexapro, Zoloft, Cipro, Klonopin, Valium, Lorazepam, Ativan, Robaxin and the powerful sleep aid Chloral Hydrate in her system. Now, many fear Lindsay Lohan may join the list.

The feisty TV host and author of “Addict Nation-An Intervention for America,” Jane Velez-Mitchell says “The high profile tragedies we cover on my show “Issues” (HLN Channel) are just the tip of the iceberg. Celebrity deaths are bringing into focus our national addiction to prescription drugs!”

There`s a growing trend in America to try and solve all manner of discomfort, real or imagined, physical or emotional, with a pill. And because prescription drugs are “legal” many don`t acknowledge the devastating wreckage pills are creating in the lives of addicts. We have become a nation of pill-heads. According to Velez-Mitchell, prescription drug abuse is a “cultural addiction.” Nationwide, deaths from prescription drug overdoses are the second-leading cause of accidental death behind car accidents. In some states, prescription O.D.`s are the leading cause of accidental fatalities.

But, this epidemic is being, for the most part, ignored. Why? “Addict Nation” points out that there are billions of dollars made each year on legal drugs, and those industries have become our “pushers.”

In her new book Addict Nation-An Intervention for America (HCI Books, Feb. 2011), bestselling author Jane Velez-Mitchell says, “It`s time to take our power back!” She believes Americans have collectively become devoted to a number of dysfunctional behaviors ( overeating, prescription drug dependency, sex addiction, and obsessions with technology, war, incarceration, celebrities and crime) and that the United States is in danger of “hitting bottom.”

Addict Nation tackles the issue of cultural addictions, and promises to shine a light on those who would profit off of our misery. Velez-Mitchell says she`s got a blueprint for change, but first we must see what is really going on. Addict Nation is an intervention!

Diverse Music Festival To Benefit Migrant Farm Workers

The second annual Harvest of Hope Fest (HOH Fest) has announced the initial lineup for their multiple-stage music festival that will take place March 12th – 14th in sunny St. Augustine, FL. The festival serves to raise awareness and provide financial support for the Harvest of Hope Foundation, a charity organization that aids migrant farm workers across the country.

HOH Fest is the first multi-day concert of the 2010 festival season and uniquely different than many other festivals that will be happening this year. Last year, over 17,000 attendees took in over 100 punk, indie-rock, hip-hop, alt-country, folk, and blues bands.

This year’s line up showcases a diverse roster once again with national and international acts including Billy Bragg, Dr Dog, The Mountain Goats, Leatherface, Rogue Wave, Delta Spirit, Senses Fail, Anti-Flag, Dead Prez, Kimya Dawson, Samiam, Torche, Strike Anywhere, Cymbals Eat Guitars, Dr. Octagon AKA Kool Keith, Small Brown Bike, Portugal. the Man, Black Sheep, Danielson, Coalesce, Man Man, forgetters (Ex-Jawbreaker/ Against Me!), plus over 150 more artists joining together to raise awareness to the plight of migrant farm workers! Harvest of Hope Fest is the only festival of its kind that has such a large group of musicians donating their time and performances to charity. A full list of first round confirmations can be seen below.

Right in time for spring break, the 2010 Harvest of Hope Festival is conveniently located on the St. John’s County Fairgrounds – which offers 90 acres of shaded grassy pasture for plenty of fantastic rustic camping. The festival is an ideal destination to spend spring break and support an amazing and blossoming charity organization. Harvest of Hope Fest is located just a short distance from historic St. Augustine and its beaches, and is within an easy drive of Daytona Beach, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Gainesville.

Three-day tickets are on sale now and will rise in price as the festival draws closer. From January 14th through February 11th, tickets will be available at the early-bird price of $39.50. From February 12th to March 11th, they will jump to $49.50. Walk-up 3-day tickets will be $60.00. Single day tickets will be available for $25.00/day in advance and $35.00/day weekend of. Three-day camping passes are also now available at $19.50/person.

A small number of VIP passes are available at $99.50 per person. The VIP pass includes access to the VIP camping area, a three-day festival pass, and extra goodies to be revealed at a later date!

Proceeds from the charity fundraiser festival will benefit the Harvest of Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides emergency and educational aid to some of the hardest working and often overlooked people keeping our agricultural economy moving – migrant farm workers. Harvest of Hope distributes funds to migrant farm workers and their families to help pay for food, medical services, clothing, rent, educational scholarships, and more. For more information on what Harvest of Hope Foundation does to aid migrant farm workers and how this grass roots foundation gained the support of a vibrant and diverse music community, please visit www.harvestofhopefest.net.

A donation-based application process for bands interested in performing at the 2010 Harvest of Hope Fest was created to raise funds and awareness for the Harvest of Hope Foundation. Over 250 artists from all over the country made a donation of $5 to the Harvest of Hope Foundation and were granted access to fill out the 2010 Band Application which included a section that asked what migrant workers’ struggles meant to them. The application process has now ended and on January 21st, HOH Fest will announce the winners chosen to perform.
