ART GARFUNKEL COMING TO THE PONTE VEDRA CONCERT HALL

Grammy-Award winning singer, poet, and Golden Globe-nominated actor Art Garfunkel will perform at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall on Friday, February 28 at 8:00PM.

Blessed with what the New York Times described as a “beautiful countertenor,” singer ART GARFUNKEL has made an indelible mark on the music world as both a solo artist and half of the unrivaled Simon & Garfunkel.  He has also enjoyed a successful film 2600479-art-garfunkel-617-409career, published a book of poetry, released 12 solo albums and the most recent being Some Enchanted Evening in 2007. Since then, he has been busy as a husband and father two his two sons, 23 year-old James and eight-year-old Beau Daniel.  He is also an avid walker who has walked across Japan, the US (celebrated in the 1997 concert DVD ACROSS AMERICA) and now Europe.

Garfunkel was originally revered for his Grammy-winning, chart-topping songs and albums with partner and fellow NYC native Paul Simon.  Their greatest hits collection, which includes “Mrs. Robinson,” “Scarborough Fair,” “The Sound Of Silence,” “The Boxer” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” among others, is the biggest selling album ever.

After Simon & Garfunkel parted ways in 1970, Garfunkel landed several major film roles, including “Carnal Knowledge” (opposite Jack Nicholson), “Catch 22” and Nicholas Roeg’s “Bad Timing/A Sensual Obsession.”  His solo debut Angel Clare spawned the top 10 hit “All I Know.”  His other solo albums include Breakaway (‘75; features the hit “I Only Have Eyes For You”), Watermark (‘78; featuring “[What A] Wonderful World” with James Taylor and Paul Simon), Fate For Breakfast (‘79), Scissors Cut (‘81), The Animals’ Christmas (‘86), Lefty (‘88), Garfunkel (greatest hits, ‘88), Up Till Now (‘93), Across America (‘97), Songs From A Parent To A Child (‘97), Everything Waits To Be Noticed (’03) and Some Enchanted Evening (’07).

The late ‘80s brought two new challenges for Garfunkel: he published Still Water, a collection of poetry in ‘89, and began an amazing trek across America–on foot.  But the ‘80s and ‘90s found Garfunkel doing what he does best: singing for an audience.  “Taking on the fear and vulnerability of a live show keeps you vital,” says Garfunkel, who relishes the opportunity to perform new and classic material for fans around the world.  “I’m a singer trying to get away with a lucky job.  I try to soothe, to lift…That’s my life.”

Tickets for this seated show will go on sale this Friday, December 6 at 10AM. Be a part of “An Intimate Evening with Art Garfunkel” as you join an acoustic performance with songs, anecdotes, prose and a unique audience Q&A session. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall and St. Augustine Amphitheatre box offices, findmytix.com, and all Ticketmaster outlets.

And the Oscar Goes To…

And the Oscar Goes To… by Amy Lignor   When it comes to the Oscars, the word “upset” is used almost every year. In at least one category, usually the supporting actor or actress role, there is more often than not a huge surprise when it comes to the winner. However, when you look back at the awards season thus far, it seems that the same names keep coming up again and again, with no upset in sight. What became mostly a surprise … [Read More its Good for You.....]

The Day After the Day Of

The Day After the Day Of by Paul Ilechko   The sky sheds its tears. This morning is the morning of the day after. The day of mourning, the day after the day of.  I beseech the sky to shed tears in order to wash away the tears on my face.   This is the first day of the time after. History Being Sold to the Highest Bidder

History Being Sold to the Highest Bidder by Amy Lignor   For the longest time, scientists and archaeologists have been confused and bemused by various discoveries they’ve unearthed that offer little or no explanation as to the who, what, and why of the people who created these things or left them behind. Even now, in 2017, there are discoveries being studied; stories that were once legends now have actual bits of proof being found that … [Read More its Good for You.....]

ChatterBaits a Key for Early Season Bass

ChatterBaits a Key for Early Season Bass When the ChatterBait bladed jig burst onto the scene in 2006, many anglers considered it another ‘flash in the pan’ lure that would quickly slide off the radar, as seems to be so common in the fishing world.  However, over the last ten years, this unique spinner/jig hybrid has carved out a permanent spot in the tackle boxes of most serious bass anglers and has repeatedly been a top producer in … [Read More its Good for You...]

Looking Forward to the NFL’s “Top” Free Agents by Amy Lignor   Now that the Patriots have (once again) walked away with the Super Bowl title, it is time that the NFL teams focus on the draft and what free agents they need to most definitely keep on their roster. The Pittsburgh Steelers always seem to be on all the “experts” lists to make it to the end and finally get back to the Super Bowl’s main stage. Unfortunately, the Steelers can’t … [Read More its Good for You...]
