Advanced Disposal NOW COLLECTS 25 RECYCLABLE Items

Advanced Disposal NOW COLLECTS 25 RECYCLABLE Items FROM
St. AUGUSTINE BEACH RESIDENTS

Expanded List and Second Recyclable Bin Available to All Households with Goal of Increasing Recycling by 30 Percent in 2012

Advanced Disposal Services, Inc., a regional integrated environmental services company, along with the City of St. Augustine Beach, announced their joint goal of increasing the amount of recyclable items collected from residents by 30 percent in 2012.

Effective immediately, Advanced Disposal now collects 25 different items as part of residents’ curbside recycling program. In addition, residents can now pick up a second 18-gallon recycling bin at no charge by going to City Hall, located at 2200 SR A1A South.

Advanced Disposal originally picked up six recyclable items, which included newspapers, corrugated cardboard, metal and aluminum containers, plastics #1 and #2 and clear, brown and green glass.  The new collection list includes a total of 19 new items, which residents can add to their recycling bins. Service is single-stream recycling, so there is no sorting required by the residents. In support of this expansion, Advanced Disposal has provided each customer with an additional 18-gallon recycling bin, for a total of 32 gallons of recyclable materials storage per home.

“We encourage the entire city to take advantage of the expanded program and make it their New Year’s resolution to recycle more,” said Advanced Disposal Chief Marketing Officer Mary O’Brien. “This comes at no additional cost to the city or its residents and will help us reach our goal to increase materials collected by 30 percent in 2012, which ultimately makes our community cleaner and greener for years to come.”
